New RID Figures Take it Back to Generation 1 - Transformers News - TFW2005

The product details for Cyclonus mention him as the mastermind behind the High Council. Apparently he has mind control powers and brainwwashed the High Council. Thus Cyclonus is the main villain and likely the one who sends down the Combiner team along with Bludgeon, Skywarp, and freeing and building a new body for Soundwave. We haven't seen a hint of this version of Cyclonus' personality however what do you guys think of having such a legendary character as the main villain?, what kind of personality do you think he'll have?, what actions do you think he'll take to rule the galaxy?, will he use the Alchemor prisoners?

I for one think he'll be awesome and tough/brutal villain.

 

I guess they took Combiner Wars Cyclonus' ability of mind controlling others and applied it to this show. This would be less interesting than the corrupt council storyline that many people had predicted but seeing Cyclonus as a main antagonist will be a nice surprise. I'm also hoping for more Starscream as I still want to see a confrontation between him and Megatron.

 

The whole "brainwashed Grimlock" theory seems to becoming more likely...

 

It'd be cool if Cyclonus's personality is more complex then just being an evil Decepticon who uses mind control to run Cybertron like for instance what he's fed up with how the Decepticons have fallen from grace from their original intent and it's to provide a better society or what he feels makes for a more just society and that he's also bitter against the Autobots who may not have bothered to listen to what the Decepticons that want nothing to do with Megatron or power struggle given their past history so as a result he uses mostly charisma to convince bots to join his side and that he only uses mind control when he feels is very much needed just to make sure no one gets too suspicious about how he does things.

In a nutshell it would play into how he's usually filled with some element of honor and makes him stand out among characters like Steeljaw and Starscream despite still being a messed up villain. Not to mention it would play into what Megatron originally wanted to do before he became the Emperor of Destruction especially if Megatron comes back and calls him out on it saying that he's pretty much become the one thing they hated from the beginning.

 

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME !

 

I wonder if he'll be related to Skywarp in any way or if they'll be entirely separate characters. What if, when Optimus gets to Cybertron with Starscream, Cyclonus gets Starscream freed and clones him, creating Skywarp? Or maybe, Skywarp pretends to be just a thuggish prankster like it says in his bio, when really he's controlling the council and he eventually upgrades into Cyclonus?? It's so exciting!! 

 

Suddenly this now makes me want to pick up CW Cyclonus to display with my RID15 shelf in case if they also adapt his ability to combine with others like the CW toy as well since the Combiner Force gimmick toy would mostly be gimmick based anyway.

 

That would be great, but unfortunately Prime/RID2015 universe Tailgate is kinda dead.  

I guess they could offhandedly mention that it was another bot named after the original.

 

Yep. Originality in Transformers is officially dead. I'm starting to think I should take another break from this franchise.

Considering his Legion toy seems to share a mold with Starscream, I'm guessing Warrior Screamer will be retooled into Cyclonus.

Cyclonus has turned out to be more interesting and effective in a post-war scenario than in actual combat. So this angle sounds pretty awesome to me.

I hope he actually appears in the show.

 

I like Cyke better as a good guy (MTMTE) than a bad guy, but I'd like to see how this pans out. A Warrior Cyclonus retool of Starscream is probably on the way considering how the Legion is a heavy retool of 'Screamer.

It's so weird after MTMTE having another villainous Cyclonus again.

That said I hope Cyclonus gets a great voice in this show.

 

Nah. He's ok in MTMTE, but i much prefer the honorable warrior/Galvatron zealot/grim Decepticon second in command from the Sunbow cartoon.

 

Webworld is a masterpiece. Cyclonus will bender never be better than webworld

 

Yeahhh, Cyclonus is definitely better as a reluctant hero than a bland villain. As a villain he's best as the one logical voice under the unpredictable insanity of someone like Galvatron and alongside someone as greedy and opportunistic as Scourge. But even then it doesn't come close to comparing to the Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave/Lugnut dynamic. As a main villain, though? Eh. It doesn't fit any of his prior characterizations. I'm afraid he'd just come off as bland as Megatronus was.

 

I actually remember first seeing Webworld and loving it a lot.

Talk about bland, that shit gets rehached so often its gruel by now.
And not the kind even Oliver would want a second portion of.
But evidently not a problem for you since everything has to fit prior chatacterisations (except when you approve, cause his mtmte persona doesnt completely fit prior characterisations itself).
Cyclonus is ten times the villain screamer could ever hope to be.
And this role would fit him like a glove.
If it want for his devotion to his leader he would have made a great Decepticon leader himself and that has
always been part of his characterisation.
I'm glad mtmte has brought him new fame and i like that version of the character but the Sunbow Cyclonus has been one of the most versatile, creative and intriguing TF characters we have seen to date and i hope his RID character has foundation therein.

 

It's admittedly surreal to see Cyclonus as a villain again after seeing More Than Meets The Eye's Cyclonus, but I think they could make this work. They just have to let Cyclonus keep his loyalty to the Decepticons and his sense of honor, and I think having him mind-control the council would just be cheap. Maybe if he was really charismatic, and could nudge the minds of other robots in the right direction if they proved to be too disagreeable?

 

yeah Mind control would be a little cheap, but i am affraid we cant really expect anything more subtle from any TF cartoon.

Still I think it would take a lot to make RID Cyclonus worse than Megatronus for starters his voice alone has to be some how be worse.
