Found this guy today and decided to pick him up. I never planned on getting any of the Cyberverse warriors, but I like this guy's robot mode and I doubt we'll ever get another toy of him.

Robot mode is nice and his articulation isn't horrible. Ball joints in the shoulders, hips and elbows plus hinge knees.

His head is on a panel that I assumed was either part of the gimmick or done for transformation, but it doesn't appear to part of either. It seems like neck articulation could've been worked in.

His biting gimmick is activated by pulling down on his left shoulder. The gimmick works well and stays locked in when not in use, unless you tug hard on the shoulder. Looks a little dumb in my opinion, but the gimmick isn't why I bought this guy.

Transformation is very simple and makes a nice looking robo shark. His hands are still somewhat visible in this mode, but probably would be less so if you rotated the arm fins like you're supposed to, oops... Interestingly, the lower jaw of the biting gimmick does not form the lower jaw of the shark mode. I assumed that was why his head was on a lifting panel, so it could be folded up and then the jaw in his chest, but nope.

Overall, Hammerbyte is a decent figure and I don't regret picking him up. Now if only we had a toy of
    the Cthulhu Titan
from his episode to go with him.

Great review! I really like the design of both modes. I’ll grab one when I see it. Cyberverse has been reliable for fun designs lately.

The cgi model threw me off! It looked like his lower jaw was supposed to be part of the robot! I give this figure a C it's not awful but holy crap how do you mess up something as simple like this.

As Cyberverse Warrior toys go, it's breddy gud. (they seem to be stepping up a bit finally). Shark mode is okay, if a little bland IMO (too much expanse of dull blue-gray through the middle). I do find it interesting how the lower jaw on the chest both is and isn't a 'faux part'', being part of the gimmick that springs the shark head forward over the robot one. I wouldn't call it a great toy (doubt I could say that for anything in the Cyberverse line), but it's at least a fun and interesting one. I was fortunate enough to get it on sale at Wal-Mart for about 12 bucks, and it's plenty worth it at that price.

My kid doesn't like him. I kinda want one. He reminds me of Metal Shark Player.
    Mmx6metalsharkplayer.jpg

I might get one to customize if he can use his legs in shark mode.

you know, just once I'd like to see a hammerhead shark TF actually armed with a hammer. Doesn't seem like that would be too much of a stretch...

this little guy seems cool though. Hoping Cyberverse' asinine distribution record doesn't strike again & I never find him...

I did not even know this figure was coming out. I just stumbled across him at Wal Mart. I almost passed him up because I saw it was one of those gimmicky Cyberverse toys but took a closer look at the figure in the packaging and saw he actually has articulated joints. Unlike a lot of the other figures in this line the gimmick does not in any way hinder his articulation. He reminds me of the Warrior Class figures from RID2015 that I really lined. The way his legs transform is even really similar to way Optimus Prime's legs transformed except now they turn into a tail of a shark instead of a truck trailer.

The only things that really confuse me about this figure is that the head is on a hinge which seems to allow you to puppet the shark head in robot mode. It barely moves though. The head can be unclipped and folded up but there's really no reason to do this. It's not part of the transformation and it makes the head clearly visible in beast mode if you do this so just leave it clipped it.

The other weird thing is I was trying to figure out how the shark head transformed until I found out the lower jaw on his chest is a faux part that isn't actually part of the beast mode. The real lower jaw is tucked inside the upper jaw.

The gimmick works fairly well except the faux jaw on his chest doesn't always deploy properly so some times he ends up with just the upper shark head on his head.

Anyway, there's ball joints at the shoulders, as well as a hinge which is mainly for transformation but you can use it to shrug his shoulders as well, ball join elbows, ball joint hips, and knee joint with some clever molding in the back of the knee that covers what would of been an open gap in the leg. I wouldn't or really care about the gap there but it's nice they included it for people who care about that sort of thing. One leg can bend just a little bit more than the other because that gap filler runs into the tail fin that folds into one of the legs.

I do wish they had done what they did with RID2015 Warrior Grimlock where they molded in a fake tail into the opposite leg so they match because without it the side without the tail is just clearly hollow. The leg with the tail looks more solid because the tail fills in the hollow parts of the leg.

The transformation is pretty fun. Some of the parts don't really like to peg in if you don't have everything lined up correctly. Even if you get them in where they're suppose to go they'll pop back out. I found it's easier to get the legs pegged in first as this will force the arms into their proper alignment to peg in properly rather than trying to do the arms first and then close the legs around them.

He does have a bit of a back pack into robot mode and you can clearly see robot arms just hanging out on the bottom of the stark mode but nothing too terrible. I really like him, glad I picked him up. If there's a remold of this as Sky-Byte I'd gladly pick it up again.

Personally my biggest issue (which is only minor) is I would put a Maximal sticker over the Autobot logo.

It’s not inside his upper jaw?

Personally picked him up today after seeing a review on YouTube about him last night, and honestly the biggest gripe is his chest jaw doesn’t deploy all the time after flipping him to shark and back. It seems to be something to do with his arm’s angle when you activate the gimmick, if it’s straight down it won’t fire now. But if I angle it up a bit it will.

Um... it should be inside his upper jaw. It's difficult to even notice it's there at all until you pull it out for the first time. I hit a bit of plastic at the corner of his mouth that brought it out on accident the first time without even realizing it was there.

I had a similar issue though the main problem I had is it feels like the best place to hold him from is right near that jaw and some times I'm physically holding it in place without even realizing it. I've also looked at the mechanism and the arm holding the lower jaw to the chest doesn't move as noticeably as the one for the upper jaw which makes it incredibly easy to hang up regardless of what position the arm is in. And it doesn't require a lot of effort to hold it in place even if you aren't directly on the jaw just having your thumb near it is enough to get it caught and stop it from deploying even though you're barely touching the outside edge very lightly.

Still better than a lot of the other gimmicks though and this guy has actual articulation... so I still wouldn't mind if they made a remold as Sky-Byte.

This figure is somewhat surprising in that the Warrior figures haven't been good, but this one is actually well made and fun.
I'm also surprised at how large the shark mode is.
The only reason I bought it is because my girlfriend likes hammerhead sharks, but I'm glad I we have it now.

Huh, I never posted here. I love this guy. Practically justifies the entire existence of the size class and gimmick. He's surprisingly fun.

I was going put Hammerbyte on a flight stand today only to find I don't have a flight stand that can actually fit inside the tiny amount of room in the alt mode cavity where the hole is.

Looks good. Glad I've got one ordered. Plus I get to add to my sharkticon shelf (Yes I know he's not a sharkticon)

He's one of my favorite purchases of the year to date.

I tried an older flight stand that I had and he doesn't fit on that one either, so then I was going to rest him on a c-clamp stand, but then I took a look at my oldest stands and realized that the clamp comes off to a really small post. That, in fact, worked! (Someone with a better memory than me may know exactly which stand it is.)

    So yeah, pretty stoked now.
