Oh lord, I should never choose a dark plastic to paint a light color ever again. To make a long story short, I was inspired by someone’s digital bash of turning Cyberverse Warrior Soundwave into his G2 GoBot colors. And so I tried my best, which had some mixed results. Mostly horrific. I admit to being proud of what turned out, but wow. Never again with the yellow on dark blue paint. That took days to get to the state you see it in. It’s still good enough for display, though.
Wow, that is amazing! The yellow did take to the blue awfully well! You have officially made me wish Cyberverse was just a g2 reboot.
Completely unintentional, I assure you! It’s totally the blue plastic coming through, but I will take the compliment!
awesome idea. but next time you should definitely use a grey primer first... or do another coat of yellow.
Hey, I recognize that! The inspiration he mentions was from me, which can be found in the art forum here: 2D Artwork: - G2 Cyberverse (Or at least I think so, maybe there's another G2 Cyberverse Soundwave floating around out there I'm unaware of.) Looks great! And I know these colors are a pain to try to paint over dark plastic. I attempted a G2 Soundwave custom myself years ago using DotM Roadbuster and getting his green painted fluorescent yellow was a total failure and I ultimately abandoned it.
Yes! That was your art. So good, and it did inspire me to go with GoBot Soundwave rather than Black Soundwave. Still, lessons learned, and he still looks solid.
I don't know if you did, but I found using a primer coat first helped take the transition to the yellow better. And very light coats.
Yellow its so hard to work, I had the same kind of problems before, so I understand your pain with this work, but I think looks good. Chest piece looks nice and magenta always shine. Oh and G2 love its always welcomed.
That cheetah print look might have not been intentional but it really works for the figure. It creates a very very cool effect. Made me think about the Prime: legion class Hoist I did several years back where the metallic green paint I used bubbled along some of the grooves in the body of the truck and when they popped it ended up looking like bullet holes and dents and I loved the look... Happy accident
I can't see anything resembling cheetah print, just something like mud on the alt mode. Kind of Seige Battle Damage. But the robot mode is glorious and I can't argue with that!
Kinda surprised they didn't have a deco like this in Cyberverse in the Scientist's collection, given how many they had. (I could be wrong though). "Why does he collect Soundwaves and not Hot Rods?"
