Picked this figure up yesterday and it completely blew me away. I was actually shocked by how nice it is in comparison to nearly every other Shockwave released for this series.
It came with a piece of the build-a-figure, but I have no intention of buying the rest of the series to finish it, so it went into a parts bin.

    Pros:
-Articulation is top notch, including head swivel, antenna movement, full shoulder movement, 90-degree elbows, wrist swivels, waist swivel, movable skirt armor, full hip movement, well over 90-degree knees, swivels at the knees and ball-jointed ankles.
-Pretty great design, and they finally ditched that scowly-eye nonsense.
    -Solid feeling and durable.
    -Very nice paint apps.
    -Blast effect is pretty great.

    Cons:
-Alt mode is awful. Seriously, it's the figure doing a crab walk. That's it.
-Pretty small. He stands eye level with Siege Barricade.
-The head should have better range of motion, but that's probably more of a nitpick than a negative.

Overall, I truly like this figure.

It's so awful I deleted it from my gallery.
Here it is from the alt mode thread:

Well honestly that's the best 'crabwalk' mode I've seen on a toy yet. Still not great.

In the show, idk if you've seen it, Shockwave has a much flatter and filled in profile than any of his toys. His mass forms a sort of 'beetle shell' and the arm cannon pops out on top. Then the chest area is articulated like a head. I wish that the toys tried to hit those notes.

It looks like he shares beam effect parts with Megatron so that'll be helpful if you want to double up on those.

    Does the hose come off?

The effects are different. Megatron's are larger.

Yeah, the hose comes off. It's a pretty stiff plastic and can impede movement a bit. Not bad, though.

I seriously considered buying this guy yesterday, but this detail was what kept me away. Do you have any of the other figures in this wave?

No, it's the only one I wanted. I had considered Megatron, but that head sculpt is too much for me.

Hm. Well, do you still recommend Shockwave a.) in light of the altmode, and b.) if I already have the Siege version?

If you like Shockwave, then yes, this is a very fun Deluxe. While I think the Siege version is the definitive Shockwave, this one surprisingly has a little more articulation in the knees and feet, as well as hip armor movement. It really is a great figure!
If the Siege one didn't exist, this would be my go-to, so there's that.

So, I picked him up...damn! I wasn't expecting to like this guy so much; even the altmode! I can foresee keeping this guy around for a while, unlike with my Aligned figures.

I don't understand all the complaints about the alt mode. It's what he has on the show, and it's cool. I'm looking forward to picking this up. I have the Ultra class version which is good, but this looks better.

I mean, at that point that's not the figure's fault, its the show's fault for having his alt mode be like that.

Yeah, I agree. I don't watch the show, so I only judge the alt mode from the toy.

I'm worried the hose is going to break, besides that this toy absolutely exceeded expectations.

As much as I love might love a toy’s bot mode I have never been able to accept the crab walk alt mode. It is literally a deal killer for me.
Yes, I get that’s what he is in the show. But it’s just one of my things for better or worse.

I wish Shockwave would pick up an actual Earth mode one of these days. Movie, Siege, Cyberverse, Combiner Wars, Prime, FoC... always some vague "Cybertronian" thing.

i honestly think a large part of it is because there's nothing earthen that's purple that would really fit shockwave. the closest you can get is a car, but shockwave is typically a big guy, so that's out. hearts of steel had the battleship that was mostly silver, but i think they usually want to stick to something more blatantly gun-like, so tanks or helicopters are out.

After seeing that angry face that ruined the previous Shockwave to this toyline I was ready to see the same instead is a very beautiful surprise!Big inferior section of legs render him powerful and also all upper chest and head are the best things.I've already SIEGE version and then I'll buy Galactic Man but after him this will be next Hasbro purchase.

Alt mode is awful for me as concept, but is too beautiful in bot mode and is enough :)  .
