I hope to conclude my collection of Unicron trilogy figures by next november, so I have a question that could possible save me ~$50. Is the supreme starscream figure mostly an upscaled version of the voyager figure (and yes, I know about the altered key gimmick, it's just not enough to sell me on it).
Oh no. Its has many differences compared to the voyager. Fortunately I have universe dirge to compare it to the voyager mold. What changes are the gimmicks. First the cannons on the chest actually move upwards like they do on the show. Second he has red lights and sounds when you click a button on his shoulder. It has a gold earth cyber key and the standard decepticon key. Which store in two slots on the engine which as far as it seems is just for key storage. It lacks the spring loaded blaster cannon the voyager has. Instead of The two energy swords you get one sword and one giant purple blaster. these flip out on a very powerful spring This new mold blaster not only has a fireing missle but a extending claw to simulate a chargeing energy cannon motion. Either mold is a really solid toy. But starscream has a lot of presense and is one of the best supreme class toys around. If you like big toys. Bam! Get a Supreme Starscream. It makes you wonder if japanese galaxy force fans imported the US supreme starscream because of how show accurate it is. He even has the Crown accesory which was a big deal at the time since it perfectly homages the 86' Transformers movie Starscream Crown.
Actually I think you could probably get the supreme one for cheaper then the show accurate takara version
Ironicly toys r us was how North America got voyager Starscream. I appreciate the factiod was'nt aware they had it.
I think the supreme has one folding pannel on the crotch that the voyager does not, other wise exactly the same.
I'd think you'd be able to get it for cheaper than $50 now. I could be wrong though. For as simple as it is I really like the Supreme sized Starscream, I really recommend it, it's a great display piece.
I think you'll be making a big mistake. I was turned off on the whole thing back at the time, but I got it anyway simply for my seeker collection. holy crap, he's bigger'n any other supreme toy made. ginormous, and full of awesome.
I picked mine up on sale at Target for $25, and he was worth that, but not really much more. Here's my breakdown: Pros: comes with the crown, flip out arm weapons are well done, electronics are decent, nice and big. I was never a fan of the UT, so I keep him with my Unicron and Primus as a alternate G1 comic universe Starscream who didn't overload when he absorbed the Underbase, but rather became empowered by it to the point where he now is a third transformers deity. Cons: not really much better than the voyager other than size. His articulation is pretty limited and his features don't really justify a high price tag. Basically, if bigness is something you're interested in, than he's worth it, but if you're just looking for a plastic version of the character and aren't concerned with size, then I'd go voyager. Of course, I'm not sure what either goes for on the secondary market, so if there isn't too much price difference, you might as well go for the supreme.
I'm getting a loose one from a Friend. I think it's missing a few weapons/missiles, but I'm getting it with a bunch of other toys, to sort of Take it off his hands. If and when I get it I'll take some pics, and if you want it for Uber Cheap, (I'm thinking maybe 5-10 dollars + Shipping) We'll talk.
only thing I don't like about S.S. is the molded fists, usually supreme fig have articulated hands and I need another bot giving Darth vader/death star the finger
Supreme Starscream is awesome. I got him off ebay for about $15 shipped so if you look you can find him for a good deal. As awesome as he is I wouldn't have paid $50 for him.
