So a few years back I bought this Optimus Primal I happened to see in the store. I was a huge fan of Beast Wars when I was a kid and never managed to get my hands on the original Optimus Primal. This figure looked close to being his original beast ape mode and I thought it was cool to finally own a gorilla looking Optimus. After a year or two I put him in storage and completely forgot about him until I recently purchased the new Voyager Rhinox. I then tried to see if I could find anymore of my old Beast Wars toys to display him with and found this Optimus again.

I wanted him to be displayed next to Rhinox but the problem I had with him was that he was brown, black and khaki instead of black, white and red. So I then took some of my model paints and decided to repaint him as his first season color scheme. The way I am making his look work for my head is this is what he would have looked like if he went through the transmetal phase like everyone else instead of what happened to him at the end of season 1. Sorry about the poor picture quality and the paintjob being rough. Second time painting a transformer picture.

Nice job. The paint application looks really smooth. I repainted that figure a few years ago and had a really hard time with paint rubbing off not only at the joints, but at many of the little spots that make contact with each other during transformation. Underrated toy in terms of sculpting and cleverness of the design. Yours looks great!

Thanks a bunch! Yeah I noticed my paint started to do the same thing, it was getting annoying until I decided to do a matte clear coat layer. It worked really well and even made the fur looking bits not so shiny which I was happy with. Once I did start painting it I was surprised how detailed the figure was, it really is a great figure that I think was overlooked a bit.
