To those of you with Cybertron Lugnutz in hand: Anyone else notice the strange glitch in the pic of Lugnutz in bot mode on the back of the card? If you look closely at his right side (our left), you can see what appears to be one of his handlebars and only one on his left side (our right) where both should be since they can't be split apart (at least, mine don't). Any ideas about this? Might this be a photoshopping error or is the image culled directly from a possible prototype? Or am I just crazy? Could be the latter.....Comparison photos are available from Seibertron.com here: http://seibertron.com/toys/fullsize.php?id=831&size=1&image=10 and here: http://seibertron.com/toys/fullsize.php?id=831&size=1&image=50
It's quite possible that there was a minor retooling in the handlebars between the hand-painted proto and the final release. Or perhaps the proto was broken. Hard to say. It's not like there haven't been physical differences in the pictured toys before, beyond just the decoes. In recent memory, we have Alt. Sideswipe, who sports a molded insignia in the photos, tampoed on the toy. Cruellock sports extra molded details on his legs or hips that aren't present in the photographs. Energon Scorponok has different hip guns. Most recently, it's been discovered that Cybertron Defense Scattorshot also had some changes along the way, since the back-of-box photos show a much more condensed tank mode.
That was Dead End/"Sunstreaker". Side Swipe's Autobot logo is on the fake folded down canopy top piece.
Dont' forget Cybertron Downshift. On the back of his card, the engine is MIA. Instead, that section is molded into the shape of the hood. Personally, I'd have rather had him that way. But oh well.
Yeah, I couldn't believe they named his gun either....I'm sure it has been done elsewhere in one of the series (or two or three), but nothing comes to mind and, no, Targetmasters don't count.
To be honest, not only do I not know where to find pictures of Hasbro's box, but I just tossed Sideswipe's box out last weekend with alot of my other packages, because they were taking up way too much space.
I just looked at Sideswipe's box. It's true. The convertable top cover not only has a molded autobot symbol, but it's got the details to look like leather. Kinda like Cyb. Downshifts roof.
I finally got Lugnutz today and looking at the back of the packaging, there's definitely a difference between the proto and final release. On the toy in the packaging, the handbars split in half along with the front fork. Personally, I think this looks better as there's not a ton of kibble on one side.
