Review Cyb Clocker. My 1st ever attempt at a review so pls be gentle! Cybertron Clocker: Clocker is a futuristicly designed 2 seater car, from my mind not resembling any other TF fig. Vehicle mode: Starting with a sleek slanted frontend and openly exposed front wheels. Moving into the open canopy with no doors! Starting along the side of the vehicle is Exhaust stacks that are wildly out of porportion and run all the way back over the rear wheels (Ala Hot Rod). Just behind the open air seats is an aerodynamic rear end where i hazard to guess the engine is (Which turns into his weapon). On the side is a couple of small rear wings for optimum wind flow. Overall a slick fast looking little car! With white's grey's and blue's for colouring. Transformation:(As per instructions) Firstly remove the exhaust pipes by gently pulling. Then pull up on the rear end with the smal aero wings, which will come off. Turn upside down and fold the rear flaps at the back of the car. Flip open the legs that you just cleared room for. Next is to flip backwards the front end of the car, this will allow acess to the arms. Push them out and fold down the wrists. Attention back to the front end the head will now be visable, fold back the 3 flaps there (Middle one with the head attatched) then turn the head forwards. Move the front back near to where it came from and the head will latch into the (what has become) chest! Now you will have yourself Clocker the Robot! Robot mode: For a Scout class figure Clocker is very nicley detailed. Broad shoulders with a well designed chest plate, moving down into a thinning stomach area. The arms are fine at the shoulder but stiff at the elbow with up and down only. In the wrist area it is completley orange and a little too hollowed out. Well posable ball joints join the legs to the hip, but are let down a little by the less posable joints in the knee. We are restricted to up and down movement there, which is ok considering he is small. The lower leg is a good solid looking mould with feet that are non movable! Overall i like the mode, the colour is much the same as the car mode but broken up by the introduction of more orange. Overall: I like this guy and he is a good addition tho the Autobots. If on a budget and can't afford all then this is one of the figs that you could wait to get. edit: I have been informed that the exhaust is on upside down in those pics! In my defence this is how it came in the packaging!
Good start, SW! I just picked up Clocker today. I was slightly disappointed by the color scheme in robot mode; I knew what the colors were, but they seemed a little louder in person (because they're a little darker). Once I got used to that I ended up liking him. It's my first Cyb basic and so far I'm pleased. (The instruction sheet stinks but I'm used to that by now... when have TF instructions ever been any good? ) I was going to say something about leaving the exhausts on but I noticed SW has them on in his pics . Excellent pics, BTW. Personally I also like the way Clocker looks in robot mode with the exhausts on his arms. One last thing, whoever said these basics were all smaller than the Energon basics is certainly wrong with Clocker. Arcee only comes up to his shoulder.
I really want this little guy. He's got one of the few sci-fi alt modes that I really like. I'll deffinitely be leaving his weapon off of his alt mode, though.
Thems some great pics, SW. Review is well done... very objective where it should be, with your opinions in appropriate places. Hats off to you sir! I've been wanting to pick this guy up... but I haven't seen him at all. Then when I saw Scattorshot in the store, I got a little worried this guy would be really tiny... Certainly hope not.
Not to worry, renidragon, as SW says, Clocker is actually pretty big. He's taller than the Energon basics, and quite a bit taller than Ransack.
Just saw this figure yesterday and passed because I already had GF Skids. Definitely a cool basic and worth the $7 price tag. However, I must say that the white paint over orange plastic on the legs looked a little cruddy because it made the white look kind of muddy. I'd still recommend this figure over any of the other basics out so far, just slightly beating out Backpack. However, if you're really on a tight budget you may want to hold out for the Cybertron equivalent of Autolander, as it is an overall better figure.
Just picked him up this morning and can't wait to open him up after reading all the cool things about him. He right about the exhaust pipes, that is how they come in the package but I don't think it looks bad that way at all.
honestly, this is one case where hasbro improved greatly over the takara product. first of all, as a cost cutting measure I'm sure, this guys is all blue and orange plastic. this makes an even greater looking robot mode. Yes, if you look carefully you will see that even his front end is blue plastic painted over by white. its really good looking, and makes him look more like a racer. key differences: area behind his head is now blue, was white, chest is blue plastic not white, legs are orange plastic not white, exhausts are silver, not white, the silver app on his hood/back is very light, looks better in my opinion. the orange plastcis darker as well, and so is the clear blue plastic. he now has a little autobot symbol on his hood. my favorite change is his abdomen. if you look closely, you will notice that the lower section is now silver painted, with orange on top. He has two small square holes as well, and they look more like paint apps now that it is blue plastic. the use of blue plastic has also brought out more of the mold details on his chest.
Is it just me, or does Clocker look alot like G1 Overdrive if you take off the exhaust pipes and the gun on the back of the car...
Decent enough review, Soundwarp. I'd like to see you do a Hardtop one as well, since you own the figure and do like it. Either that, or I'll be sure to put one up myself after he and Scattorshot arrive.
I think Clocker is the second best Basic that's been released, right behind Ransack. Scattorshot's a definite third, with Hardtop fourth and Overhaul dead last. Clocker, like Ransack, has so many different things you can do with his weapons and/or alt modes. Someone suggested using his "gun" as a shield. What a cool idea. Then I put both sets of pipes on one hand, so it looks like he's got some double bladed stave thing going on. Or a double flamethrower, either way it's awesome. I hope the Basics keep living up to this kind of awesomeness.
Finally got the little guy this afternoon. It rocks, pure and simple! The knee articulation os a little weird, but it's not like Alternators Grimlock and Wheeljack don't have the EXACT SAME throwback The key integration is pretty smooth too, I like the gun it creates. The car mode is simply awesome, it just screams 'fast'...reminds me of the aestetics of Armada Blurr for some reason, though it could just be the colors. I give Clocker a solid 'B'. Great Basic, It, Hardtop and the Minicons I found this afternoon rejuvinated my interest in Cybertron basics after my regretful purchases of Scattorshot and Overhaul last week.
