This was a special commission to help a fellow TFW2005er,Greg Gaub, with his convention,Cybcon. It is a repaint of Energon Cruellock/Doomlock as Generation 1 Grimlock. If you are gonna be in the area for Cybcon,Check it out.GG's TF Page - The Cybertronian Conference 2010! Robot mode pics
He looks great! Has Mr. Gaub seen him yet? What was his reaction to him?! Does he have any of the original figure's accessories? -Any new ones? I think its Dinosaur alt. mode might benefit from standing in more of a 'dinosaur-like' stance though (ie: bent forward further).
greg was quite pleased with this and the single one off i did for cybcon.no accessories cause i got these mostly second hand
I am quite impressed and I will be proud to call these CybCon Exclusives for 2010. No accessories, eh? Don't be too sure. ;-) As always, I hope everyone who comes to CybCon and gets one cherishes it as the unique convention toy it is, and not some way to make money off other collectors. I apologize that I'm not Fan Productions or whoever, but I'm very happy that there are generous artists like GrimlockPrime that are willing to spend so much time on such projects. Here's looking forward to a great convention!
I think that this should have been blown up a bit and turned into classics grimlock. I hate the classics thigh high boots.....poor grims, delegated to a gender confused robot..... anyways, good job, I really think it matches.
Looks decent. I don't care for the placement of the Dino head in robot mode and Dino mode kind of reminds me of Godzilla, not a T-rex. But if Greg's happy with it then that's all that matters.
placement of the head comes from being from the strange automorph they used for his transformation.sometimes it will pop perpendicular to his back and other times well the pics tell that story.i like the godzilla style here because it works as an inadverdant homage to a g1 grimlock knockoff that was mechagodzilla in it's beast mode style
Umm... I'm happy, but that's definitely not all that matters. What really matters is that the fans appreciate it. Unique and interesting exclusive toys are hard to come up with, let alone make them happen, and GP did a fantastic job for CybCon this year. As such, they can't all be CybCon Jazz or Bumblebee, and even those had their detractors. I learned a long time ago that you can't please everyone, but it's nice when you get a majority.
I'm going to CybCon and it's possible I might pic this up. Just got a Divebomb offa eBay that I might custom into a Swoop to hang out with him.
