Am I the only one that hates the way the alt mode of Combiner Wars Onslaught looks? I had this idea that would cover and improve the look of Onslaught vehicle mode. As I had no previous knowledge of 3D modelling what I ended up with was this thing, a shell to improve the look of the gun emplacement for the vehicle mode of Onslaught, giving it the look of a DANA Howitzer (or at least that was the purpose) with two cannons instead of one and hiding the combiner's head. ^This is how a DANA Vehicle looks [/IMG] **UPDATE** I received the pieces today. 02-24-2017 Although they fit, they' still need some work. With the data the pieces can give me I will be having the improved and finalized versions of the models by Monday. But I won't be able to purchase them until next month. If there's enough people interested in the pieces and wants to run the risk I'll make them available Monday, if not, I'll wait till mid March to have the new pieces in hand and make any fixes, if necessary. For now I will show you some images. I need suggestions too. I can't fathom a way for the pieces to attach securely to Onslaught. I would appreciate some ideas. Without any further ado... The turret now looks more cohesive... it can turn ninety! XD reference... Worth noting is that I customized Onslaught weapons, but it's also compatible to some extent with uncustomized ones. As the fella said, it makes the figure in robot mode less stable and adds weight to the overall backpack. I think I can reduce the weight and the size, it has some space for compression. That's how it looks internally. This is Combiner mode. It makes the cannons look a lot bigger, and can be positioned forwards. I have some ideas for custom cannons but I'll focus on the back cover as of now. I'm pretty satisfied with what I got, but I will perfect the backpack for you guys... I'm taking it as a challenge. ¿Any suggestions? ¿Any questions? I'll answer as soon as possible. And... a teaser... something for TR Galvs... I also have made other models, principally weapons, all compatible with 5mm ports. Hope you guys like my work. This is a really interesting idea. I too think the stock vehicle looks really poor. So does hotspot IMO. Anyway, good luck with this. I think if it works, it will be a neat mod for the figure.
Bought these, along with Quaternion's new head, for my in-progress Nexus Prime. (Yes, you'll receive credit.) Can't wait to get this bad boy together!
So, I got these parts in, and they're very nice, but there are a few problems with the design. Here's an album, with specified problems: Darkzeed CW Cover
Dude, I sure f*d up this one. I got my pieces yesterday and was preparing to make a post on it. As of now I'm back to the drawing board, I misplaced some measurements and it resulted on a mess. The only thing I can do for you is keeping the price (shapeway price, with no earnings for me) when the project is ready, but you'll have to wait till the pieces are shipped to me for testing, if you're still interested in the project. I'm sure less material used means less money spent. I'm not very sure if you can get a refund for the pieces. The other thing is that the weapons placement was designed for the cannons I have up in shapeways, and for the original weapons to work you need to take out the back peg that links them in super weapon mode and the hoses, that is because you need to make some adjustments to the transformation. I was waiting for the pieces to arrive to make the tutorial, but I don't know why they took so long (I'm betting customs had something to do with it). It adds 360° rotation to the turret. using the transformation swivel of Bruticus' chest plate. Anyhow, I will be redesigning the model and I'll let all know when it's ready and tested. I think this version will have support for unadulterated original weapons but their width wouldn't adjust to the way I intend to transform the figure. I'm very sorry for all the inconveniences, UnderlordZ.
I appreciate the thought, but it's not too big of a deal. I only bought the cover, so it was only, what, 11 or 12 bucks? Overall, I was just hoping to hide the Nexus Prime head a little more, but if it's meant to be a whole new turret, that's just pushing a bit too far towards a full-on Onslaught upgrade (and I get that that was the intended purpose; just a bit disappointed it didn't quite pan out how I'd hoped). Again, not too big a deal on my end. Glad to know you're taking it as a learning experience, and good luck on future versions!
I'll make a simpler cover. Can you draw a cover that would suit your needs? With the new measurements I did, I'm pretty sure I can make a simpler cover.
I have already updated the designs, but they won't be available until I receive the pieces from shapeways.
I just ordered the revamped pieces from Shapeways. They're suppossed to arrive in a week or two. Be ready folks...
Whoa there is so many things on this site! Ok correct me if wrong. So if I use auto cad I can send the file and have my own design made?
