Hi there! I've made some upgrade parts that fit Combiner Wars "pickup truck" figures - Off Road, Ironhide, First Aid, Trailbreaker, and other versions of that mold.

First is a fill-in part for the hood of Ironhide/Off Road/Trailbreaker. I was rather disappointed that it was just a huge empty space. This part doesn't interfere with any transformations or combiner-limb movements; it's been tested with Off Road and Ironhide, but the mechanics of the CW designs mean that everyone's head is about the same size so it should work with any toy based on this mold.

First Aid has a different hood mold, so I had to make a different part for him.

Assembly is easy, just drop the part into the space. There are locating tabs that hold it in position. You may need to sand a bit depending on production tolerances, and a drop of glue is advised to keep it from falling out. And, of course, it looks even better with a lick of paint.

These preview images use a part I printed myself, but I've had a production one done from Shapeways and it came out just fine.

    Trunk Fill / Guns

Next I made a set to fill in the trunk bed. I started out just making a cap, but then I remembered Ironhide being all proud of his guns in the movie, and thought "hey, the basic toy only comes with an axe and that goofy gunfoot. Why not give him some proper guns and integrate them into the toy?" So now there's a rocket pod and a blaster sort of thing.

These do require a bit of gluing to go together. My suggestion is to fit the guns in place with the toy in truck mode, then attach the covers; this will let you get the best alignment of the covers. Be careful to not get glue on the figure!

I left them as separate pieces so that painting would be easier, with fewer blind holes to get into (of course, you'll want to paint it before you glue it, otherwise that goes out the window...) I may do a unified version at some point in the future.

Transformation is so-so; I've been able to do it with these parts in place, but it was a bit finicky as to which parts had to move when.

****Important update/edit: unlike the hood fill, these parts will *not* fit up to First Aid or Trailbreaker! FA has that space already filled by his legs, and Trailbreaker's gun-arm lacks the requisite hole.

Again these preview images use self-printed parts, but the Shapeways production versions fit up fine.

Unfortunately, dyed Shapeways plastic almost never comes out the same, meaning if you bought one batch of red dyed items and later bought it again, but with different items in the batch, the first kit's hue would probably be different from the second kit's, even if the 3D file is identical. And the dye doesn't seep to the center of the plastic, so if you wanted to sand/polish it, say goodbye to that color.

This probably won't help, but the one time I bought something in red, it was like a pink-ish red, which definitely doesn't match CW Ironhide.

Wouldn't the gun hand stop it from working?

Cool ideas. You should make a variant of those guns that can double for a Hammer for the United Galvatronus Prime Breakdown.

Looks fantastic man, Great idea for an upgrade. It would be cool if you made these holsters for some pistols or knives for a Cw Ratchet.

Wow great work. I love the hood filler. I was trying to make something from scratch, but this is just too perfect. Thanks for doing it.

That Trunk Bed might work great for a CW Crankcase or the upcoming UW Zombie Breakdown.
