I own a CW Cyclonus that I love especially for dimensions, wings and face(too bad is just a litte too long on chin but remains very good) I wanted to know if in your opinion Galvatronus neck could break after few transformations or nothing should happen if I'm cautious.. I like this bot a lot and considering that is still cheap on online shops I could buy another Cyclonus for Galvatronus mode if you confirm that combiner neck is really weak. Again, sorry if I've bothered you and thanks you so much for help.
CW Cyclonus is a good solid toy. I've had mine for some time and my son has had one even longer, and other that some missing parts both are still in good shape.
Doesn't the CW Jet torso have a flaw in some of the older uses where that joint that flips the combiner head down can break? Or was that fixed for Cyclonus?
I had read that UW Cyclonus has that section improved,to me is more than enough knowing if CW Galvatronus head/neck can substain some normal transformations, or at the end that section will stress and break anyway. And yes,I had seen pics of CW Superion head break, especially for this I'm very curios.
CW Cyclonus does not have the reinforced torso. Unite Warriors Cyclonus does. Source: Me. I own both. Having said that, I have not had any problems with that piece snapping off on any CW toy. But then, I use CW Cyclonus as straight-up Cyclonus in my collection since I unscrewed Galvatronus's head and modded it to put on TR Galvatron. ED: Actually come to think of it, I DID do a slight mod to lower the chance of the torso breakage, and that was sanding down the friction tabs that the torso piece rub against. Those tabs have no practical purpose in any mode so it's fairly safe to do.
Just be careful with the joint in question and you'll be fine. I have Hasbro's Silverbolt, G2 Silverbolt and Takara's Cyclonus and Scattershot and I haven't had a single problem with any of them.
I've personally only had issues with the piece in question 'locking' itself uncomfortably firmly on versions of the mold with Superion's head. The base of the antennae seem to catch on these small plastic "ledges" which keeps them in place. Galvatronus lacks this molding(and obviously antennae), so I wouldn't worry too much. UW-06 Grand Galvatron and the standalone retail Scattershot/Betatron molds are the first instances of the thicker retooling on the part of the panel that the gestalt's head is attached. CW, UW and G2 Silverbolt as well as CW Cyclonus use the original, thinner tooling.
Does someone have a quick screen cap of the difference between the one at risk of breaking and the one that isn't? I'm looking for a Predacus but want to make sure I don't bust his head if I do end up finding one (or is he safe)
Thanks very, very much to you all for your help!! After a very long time yesterday, I transformed again my Cyclonus in Galvatronus mode and joint on neck is little but on my bot has been very easy to move it without strong movements,I also agree if we are always cautious and don't stress it probably it will never damage(only thing is that separating two pieces of Galvatronus chest to make Cyclonus robot mode again, was a suffering they firmly remained attached...at the end I managed and nothing was broken. So I keep my Cyclonus in robot mode and sometimes I'll transform him in combiner..no need to search for another CW but in next months I could buy a Grand Galvatron boxset although is exprensive.
In Scattershot's case it's actually a running change. The first set of shipments for him don't have the reinforced torso (I own one without it). I still see some occasionally in the store.
Photo of the reinforced hinge piece on UW Cyclonus: Also found on UW Scattershot, CW Scattershot (boxset), CW Sea Clamp.
I just check all the copies of the mold that my son and I have. CW Scattorshot from the box set is re-enforced, but the other four we have are not. Worst of all my sons CW Scattorshot has stress marks. Now I'm wounder is there is a way to re-enforce them...
