I had no place for the recent CW Wheeljack in my classics collection but then I saw that steamshield on shapeways made a "Smoker" aka Exhaust/Marlboor Wheeljack head for him. Reprolabels/toyhax also made a sticker conversion set as well as an upgrade kit so I decided to get them and try them out.

I almost wasn't sure if I was going to post this in Radicons as the only customizing I did was painting the silver parts on his head and adding a few extra stickers (the reprolabels set lack the "Marlboor" logo), all the hard work was already done by steamshield and toyhax! This would be an excellent project for a beginner in customizing TF's. I ordered the head in the Black High Definition Acrylate material and was very pleased. Smooth finish mostly, just the bottom of the head was a little rougher due to the printing process.

With the toyhax "X-tinguisher" parts, these were also very smooth and fit perfectly.

Comparisons with G1 Marlboor Wheeljack (custom), my custom Generations Marlboor Wheeljack (head is Auto Assembly 2012 convention custom head kit) and MP Exhaust (KO version with Ocean decals). You can see that the CW Wheeljack base figure is not as bright white color as the others.

I highly recommend getting the Steamshield "smoker" head on shapeways (he also make a version of the smoker head for the generations wheeljack figure) as well as the toyhax "X-tinguisher" upgrades they really make the CW Wheeljack figure much better. Mine will be replacing the Transformer's Collector's club figure subscription service 5.0 Counterpunch as a limb for "Wreckage". I think Exhaust, Toxitron along with geochemist Fractyl would make for a lethal combination!

Thanks! Ocean Designs (they might be also called Eness, I'm not a huge MP collector so apologies if I'm mistaken) is a Chinese company that makes stickers for the MP figures. The one they made for Exhaust contains alot of awesome details, including the notorious "Marlboro" logos. Do an ebay search for "MP Exhaust sticker" and you'll see it.

I was planning on doing this very conversion once I got some extra cash, glad to see it holds up as well as I assumed it would.

Damn, that looks really nice. Makes me wish I'd picked up CW Wheeljack the one time I saw him on shelves

    Great pics :)

I'm quite sold on this so may have to spring for a CW Wheeljack.
Do you think the AA convention head would fit?

i got the labels from ebay. They were meant for turning G1 Wheeljack into Exhaust but I used them for the classics figure. The head was from the Auto Assembly 2012 convention custom class kit. I added some paint too.

They are different sized sockets, I'd recommend getting the steamshield head (he also makes one for the Classics Wheeljack mold) as the AA one might be hard to find now.

I've got a spare AA one kicking about, just wondering if I could get away with it.

I see, well in that case you could actually get away with it. You'll have to make the balljoint on CW Wheeljack's neck thicker to accommodate the AA head, but otherwise the AA head does appear to just fit inside in car or limb mode when I tried it.

Pardon me for being late to this EXHAUSTI'VE display of plastic, but what did you do to paint his head? I got my Smoker's head in and have been waiting for a replacement Reprolabels set (since my first one was all whacky).

I just used Tamiya acrylic Chrome Silver paint on his visor and face. The head came printed in Black Hi Def Acrylate which was already pretty smooth and dark but I did add a light coating of Tamiya Semi Gloss Black. This was a pretty easy project, good for a beginner customizer, but if you wanted to, you could add the red lines inside his visor, like the MP Exhaust for even more detail.

It's been awhile since I did it but I think I just yanked it til it got off (sounds pretty dirty :) ). I still have the original Wheeljack head and I didn't have to destroy it or anything to remove it, just be careful! I also removed the CW Sunstreaker head which must have been harder to remove since I had to split that one apart along the seam. Good luck!
