This one gets its own thread because it’s going to be very special, A fully transformable, extremely articulated bayverse Optimus Prime. I have most of the engineering figured out as a lot of it comes from my Lego prime but now it can finally reach its potential without legos limits. Here’s what I have so far and the side profile the only thing that’s missing from this view is the back panel and gas tanks, everything else will fit perfectly inside his hollow torso (I know the lighting isn’t great, won’t be like that all the time) edit: the majority of parts come from rotf leader and xp14, both trucks are very similar sizes so the parts work well together
A lot of parts need sanding but here’s some stuff I’ve attached the wheel to the foot for movement accuracy, put 2 of the wheels on the double hinges from the old leader, add an incomplete sternum(still working on it), made his arm triangle thing a part of the truck, modified the face because he had no cheeks (and painted it a little because I can’t resist), add the back panel which wasn’t easy and one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a custom (I’m going to compress it slightly more when I get around to it). The lack of a shoulder pad makes his torso look thicker than it used to but it is actually the same size. The white ab part is a placeholder while I figure out the exact shape, and I’m reworking the waist hinges because they were slightly too long but I have 2 options so I’m waiting until I’ve added everything else to see which one to go with Also didn’t show this last time but I raised the thigh swivel, the thigh is an oval shape so if the entire thigh doesn’t swivel then it ends up looking too thin
Added the ab sections which are on ball joints so they can be swapped easily for dotm parts, added a spark chamber with a transparent Lego piece to give it a sort of light piping, other misc torso details, hip cylinders which attach to the leg joint and can move above or behind the legs to get them out the way, new hands (the ones with the built in knuckle dusters), modified the weapons to replace the hands (started painting them on a day when I ran out of glue but they’re far from finished)
This weeks update is a bit of a weird one and a long one surprisingly. I’ve been redesigning the torso a little, initially I designed it so that certain shoulder movements would also move the abs, however the mechanism kept getting stuck for seemingly no reason and it also took too much space in truck mode so the abs wouldn’t fit. In place of the mechanism I’ve added a side to side joint in the torso and also discovered a slight chest crunch due to transformation. I’ve had to remove the back panel for now. Outside of that I’ve finally brought my shoulder pad idea to life, added the remaining shoulder pistons, made a start on the dotm parts (made sure to include the ab splitting feature), extended the knee piston which fits inside a gap in the leg so it stays posable, made bigger panels for the back of the leg, added the ankle disks from ba (didn’t want to take from my ba figure but I’ll get more use out of them here), added a toe bend, reshaped the foot a little and improved the ankle pivot. Also took these earlier in the week, looking forward to recreating them when this is all done. was going to show the truck mode this week but I’m not happy with the rear fender mechanism yet so hopefully next time
Amazing work! This is next level custom modification. Looking forward to your subsequent progress updates.
