Hey, my dad and i are trying to make a custom TF Universe Beast Wars Grimlock and the way we see it is every thing is pretty easy exept the head, we already tried classics Grimlock head and it didn't go so well, does anyone know a good head that I could use for this project?
Energon Grimlock or tit grimlock could work but thats kinda pricey. The original BW grimlock use dinobots head why change it?
There are so many different factors that come into play with this one. What size is the figure? Are you talking about the dino head or the robot head? What is the look you're going for? Is it more organic or robotic? I would assume organic because you mentioned Beast Wars, but it makes a difference. For robot heads: Energon, 6" Titanium, or Classics Grimlock would work. There was also the TFTM tow truck whose name escapes me at the moment. It seems like his head was made for Grimlock! You can find a lot of information in our Radicons section to help with the build! Good luck!
Tow-line, but his head is even larger than the Classics figure (which didn't turn out very well). IF YOU CAN GET ONE, I think the Energon figure has a small enough head to work, but it will be up to you if the head is worth his premium cost.
Based on context clues, I'd wager he is attempting a repaint of Universe Dinobot into the white Beast Wars Grimlock raptor. For which he is looking for a Deluxe sized head that is small like Universe Dinobot. But not as big as Classics Grimlock head. Also Universe Dinobot's head attaches kinda weird, with a pin, so his body is not exactly "headswap" ready. So he'll need a spare balljoint or some other solution to attach this new head. Which we haven't decided on yet. Movie Longarm is a damn good Grimlock... ...but it might be too big. Another suggestion is bendy prime (Deluxe Armada, Cybertron Prim) which when painted black and some minor sanding, isn't a bad Grimlock.
Accually Classics Grimlock's head attaches the same way has Dinobot's head and thats why I went for it but disassembling it was a bitch and a half to get apart and then I wound up having to use wire cutters to cut the thing that his head is attached to in half to get the head out (So now its commpletlly ruined) and then i had to disassemble dinobot and when I try to fit the head in it doesn't fit!!!
Sorry man. It happens. I ruined a ton when I got started. Whenever dissembling heads or other valuable parts, take the time to figure them out. There is usually an easy way. Not always, but usually. I'm going to give it a shot when I get home, I have a classics grim I've been wanting to headswap.
