We haven't gotten get an official release of Dino in the Studio Series line yet(crossing my fingers) so until then its been gnawing at me that we don't have a figure of Dino to go with the other DOTM bots. The wreckers from the Dotm line and a few others fit well enough, but the only Dino we've gotten is from Alien Attack and its kind of of a mixed bag. Anywho this is my attempt. comments and suggestions are welcome. I had almost given up after multiple false starts and a string of figures that are now only good for parts.
This makes me want to do one myself!! You sir are onto something great here! CantC wait for it to be finished!!
Honestly if you go for it I can try to help if you have questions about anything I did. I feel like most of the mods are pretty self evident though.
Alright man thanks!!! I might try it but havent decided on it. We all need a Dino for our collections.
Thanks, the paint in vehicle mode took more coats than I would have liked for full coverage, and I'm not totally satisfied with how the head came out, but I am really bad at delicate/small paint work. I may still swap the head at some point. Singers face just had enough details to work with for Dino. I may attempt a cleaner version of this someday, but for now it will probably go on my shelf.
That looks like you might have to take a bit of creative license, and make it an Enzo Ferrari instead of the 458. You just need to change the headlights a bit, and redo the back and it will look like an Enzo! Aside from that, it looks amazing! Great work.
This is turning out great!!! I have started on mine thanks to you, so we will see how it goes. You did an outstanding job man!!!
I'm not really a car guy persay do it doesn't bother me. So yeah short of a full reshell if it were even possible I couldn't get a true 458 out of Stingers vehicle mode. In that vain I tried to invoke some of the details from Dino's onset vehicle while differentiating him from Stinger. So fauxrari if you will.
One word of warning when modding the shoulder pieces to the front grill you have to give enough clearance for the wheels to clear on rotating out.
Thanks for the tip!! I may not do all of what you did but we will see!! Can anyone recommend a putty or epoxy that is good for molding pieces onto existing figures?
But what you made is literally an enzo. All that needs to be done is make the rear bits where the brake lights are a more square shape, like this: And make the headlights more rectangular! But at the end of the day it is yours. Regardless, great job on it!.
Weird but totally unintentional! If anything it makes me try another as an OC or something and really aim for it
I'm kind of guerrilla when it comes to moding but for this I used milliput for molding the front grill. Everything else is plaplate I cut to fit and superglue. I've always used scotch superglue. Its durable and starts to set quickly without running everywhere.
one last update. Here is Dino with some of his compatriots. I may take a stab at 2.0 version someday but who knows. For now I'm pretty pleased and I've got a Dino for my shelf.
Yeah theyre all repaints and mods of the legends arcee figure. If you're curious I can get some better pics. They are pretty much my first full customs circa... 10 years ago!!!! and kinda rough. I believe I did come up with a pseudo combined mode though if I can still remember it.
