My brother-in-law is a big Dukes of Hazzard fan and also likes Transformers and for Christmas wanted a General Lee that was a Transformer. Well, as we all know one does not exist so I decided I try my hand at Customizing one.

I used the Asia TRU Cliffjumper as its the closest thing to the original car that transforms into a robot. I wanted to keep some of the red of Cliffjumper, and though for some reason the red of the flag doesn't photograph well it does match Cliffs red, and it kinda works.

I love this. Genius, while also so very logical. It's funny to me that the horns still work as a Dukes reference, as if the boys snagged them off of Boss Hogg's car. I assume he had horns on his car? My little Ertl toy did.

I also like the smart move of keeping a lot of red in the robot mode. For one, that was a great way to lessen chances of paint rub, but it also makes him more interesting visually. I enjoy how the touches of orange on his head look great while reinforcing the color scheme of the body.

 

Simply put: Amazing.

the decals could stand to be a bit larger, the Confederate flag should take up the whole roof, the General Lee wording should be above the windows, and the 01 should take up more of the door. But now I'm nitpicking

 

Of course, now you have to have a picture of him flying off a hay wagon with Prowl in pursuit.

Ok, I now want the GDO CJ to try this myself.

How about PRID bulky as the big hogg mech? hound as daisy's jeep, and a few cybertron downshifts as roscoe/others?

I had the same idea, but I've never painted any toys (haven't really painted ANYTHING since high school). I very much want to do up one of my Prime CJs (a rarity, as I usually only get a single representation of a character per show/ line, excluding Beast Wars) as the General Lee (this is partly why I got the 2 different versions), & I'll probably do the GDO. Good to see I just need to modify the exposed car panels, & not have to paint everything. Doing the flag is another thing holding me back.

I'm surprised it took so long before I saw someone do this. I expected it since I first saw Prime's CJ.
