Hello. So another post, and another old custom started years ago that I just finished. At least I'm getting through my oldies catalog quickly. This one was suposed to be my Remember PCC? Perpetually WIP Custom Upgrades PT. 3, but I still need to finish taking the pictures and organizing the presentation. That WILL be my next one. For today tho, I present to you my finaly finished CHUG CDF Seaspray as he would be in my personal headcannon(so he is not a movieverse character nor is he anylonger a minibot). But before that, I would like to thank both customizers from TFW2005 frogDNA and spoonman for inspiring me to do my first ever attempt at a headsculpt for this mold back in 2014. Here he is: I painted him by hand with the following paints Citadel Yriel Yellow Citadel Abandon Black Citadel Wazdakka Red Citadel Eshin Grey for the gun Citadel Alt???? Blue(the lable was destroyed and unreadable) Testors Flat Aluminum I was originaly going to spraypaint the yellow in, but when I tried to take the legs apart a few days ago and nearly BROKE them because somebody at the factory though supergluing the knee seams together was a good idea, I decided to not tempt fate and handpainted it all instead. I really still love the figure's OG head(and just the mold itself) specially the visor and "air" tubes, so I was always going to keep them. Here is a close-up of the finised "hybridized" head: And some extra robot mode details: Here he is with his gun: I built the gun out of a combiner wars hand/foot gun that I took out all the pins and joints of(for future projects to act as an underslung dual torpedo launcher. The handle is a KO Fireflight gun from a, believe it or not, simplied dollarstore KO CW Deadend that turned into a blue BMW. I almost want to send the set to Thew Adams honestly The yellow barrel piece is supossedly from Scrapper from the giant ROTF Devastator from back in 2009(the one with no individual robot modes, UGGH!). Here is the underside: Here are some robot mode comparisons: I will eventually paint in some extra detail to Breacher here. He is also meant to be in my headcannon as a member of the CDF and Seaspray's combat partener(like the toyline intended). Here are comparisons in vehicule mode: The fact that they can do this just highlights how awesome this mold is! Their is even natural weapon storage. No joke! It just so happens that by pure chance the gun I used is thin enough to nicely pinch between his feet and their is still enough clearance for him to roll! So there you have it folks. Another one bites the dust. In all honesty, for a project that I started for no real reason and had at the time lost interest in, at least until I started posting 2 weeks ago, I'm shocked as to how much fun I had picking up where I left off, finishing him and also building him a gun for the "why not" aspect of it(I got him used so he had no guns) and how much I love the final result. It reminded me how much I love this mold and gave me a new appreciation for our lovable Naval Defense Officer. I hope that you all enjoy this as well. As for my next post, it will be as I promised: Remember PCC? Perpetually WIP Custom Upgrades PT. 3. See you there!
I had thought I was the one dumb enough to superglue his legs. God, I feel better. Awesome work, sir! My fellow Seaspray repaint salutes you!
Love that mold, and love what you've done. I really like the gun you made, very much matches his environment.
It never really hit me how HFTD Seaspray really is an upgrade in the same vein as the Cybertron Defense Force. Genius.
Aw man, I have that mold somewhere as well. Had always wanted to make him a W.H.A.L.E. custom GI Joe cross over.
