Non-transforming (close to) masterpiece scale season 1 Tarantulas.

Made from an OG Tarantulas toy
    - Put (KO) Masterpiece Blackarachnia arms on
    - Spliced together Tarantulas and Blackarachnia legs
    - Filled in the thighs with Apoxie Sculpt (one of 2 reasons transforming is an issue)
    - Sanded down the Tarantulas head
    - Hand sculpted a (hopefully) more accurate head over the sanded down head
    - Filled in the back gap where Tarantulas's gun was place
    - Given the entire thing a base coat
    - Show accurate paint job

And there we are on the custom

    Great job :thumb
    But why non-transforming?

    Thanks!

Back then I hadn't filled in the legs yet, also the sculpted head is too big to get the robot chest over it, I'm sure there's a solution to both problems but for now I'm happy enough just having a proper looking robot mode

I like the direction this is going, but those arms need some.. bulk.

Honest opinion... Height isn't everything. Aside from maybe being the right height now, to my eyes this looks further away from the character than the stock original version. With a good bit more work though, it could definitely get there.

Ofcourse you're entitled to your opinion but hard disagree, ofcourse it's not perfect and actually my first custom work but saying the original toy is more accurate is imo really far off, that thing looks nothing like the character in body proportions, colour or head shape.

TBH I was glad once I finished it because of some trouble with brittle parts and being content with the look but I'll probably end up revisiting it after getting some more experience working on customs

To be honest, agree with Unicron here. Look at the differences between the custom and the model.

The main differences, I find, are that the arms are far too scrawny, the chest is missing some ab parts, and the thighs feel way too... thin? Or at least, are missing some bulk. Glad you're open on revisiting it though, this feels like this has great potential.

Where did you get that horrible picture?
    This is from the show:

    No weird abs missing here.
The arms actually are pretty scrawny.
And this custom's thighs definitely didn't skip leg day.

Yeah I mean, if the original toy looks better and this chest is from the original toy, how is this chest lacking?

Also the thighs are actually thicker than the original toys thighs and maybe even a bit on the thick side lol
It's part original upper leg part blackarachnia thigh and a whole lot of sculpt.

I used show screen references and like Lunatic Prime shows with the screenshot, the lower legs and arms have always been pretty thin.

most I would personally feel like changing is add some bulk to the shoulders, maybe some to the spider legs.
Maybe putting some more shape in the torso but that's also not a consistent thing in the show (honestly tarantulas's design feels like the most inconsistent design over season 1)
Making the feet bigger but again those are inconsistent over show models.
Making a new, slightly smaller head.
And I could try making the hand claw things bigger but feel like that would make any sort of holding his weapon impossible.

And at the end of the day it's a Frankenstein custom figure, it's never going to be 100% accurate, it's for my own collection, I prefer it over the original and that God awful legacy figure so who gives a rats ass, not like I'm going into production on this design lol ‍♂️
It was my first ever custom and I'm still darn proud of what I made with my own clumsy hands lol.

Ah, then I made a mistake. I used this transformation render, which seems fairly official, though not sure if it's an early one in hindsight now. In any case, I apologize.
