I like Frank's New Megatron, It sounds like a blend between His gravely G1 Voice and the cold calculating sound of Corey's Burton's Megatron.

I wished Frank Welker had used this in G1. It would of sounded awesome.

Megatron has always had a kind of "wheezy" sound to his voice, but it always had personality and rang to it back in the day. The movie game's had no rang. It was just all wheeze. Welker has finally been able to rediscover that personality and performance he originally had with the character by maturing it. It's like he was saying in the vid, he basically redeveloped the way he approached the voice, and in doing so, it's actually like the original character has finally reawakened after all these years. Megatron has returned.

If Shockwave shows up in TFP, then yes, it has to be Burton.

 

I'm really liking Welker's calmer take on Megatron.  

 

Can't wait. Really looking forward to hearing Peter and Frank together again in a TF show. I like the new aproach Frank will be taking to Megatron too, a great chance for him to redefine the character he helped create after fandom has been starting to wonder if he still had it when it came to this character, I think this show will prove he does, by allowing Megatron the leyway to evolve in this series instead of being stuck in 80's voice while Kaye and Burton were able to put their own spin on Megs. It's finally Frank's turn to show us again what he can do and make it even better this time around. The laugh sounds just as good if not more evil than ever!

 

Okay....I teared up a little at this clip. This shoots way past awesome and straight into euphoria for me. I can't wait for this series!

 

Okay I'm sold. I love that new voice, in special, how it's so low and shady that WHEN HE ACTUALY IS SUPPOSED TO SCREAM it sounds impressive.

I'm not attached to Burton, he's just one of the better ones we've had and he hasn't been doing it for 10 years like Kaye was.

But I'd be happy to take someone else that sounded less like a walking, wheezy cartoon character. Don't make this a pissing contest between Burton and Welker, because that's pointless. I'm not playing favorites, I just don't care for Welker's Megatron.

 

I love how Frank acknowledged that a change was needed for Megatron. And the new voice has tones of the old, w/o being too over-the-top. Even the end-scream in the clip wasn't bad.

 

So I'm a hostile a-hole for not digging Burton? I can't imagine how you got that idea... unless you were being a bit uppity yourself...

 

You're acting like people who like Burton and people who like Welker are completely exclusive of one another. You're being pretty damn hyperbolic, which doesn't help. And most importantly, you're acting like Burton was Megatron forever. I could understand you feeling that way about Kaye, but Burton was Megatron for literally ONE YEAR. Welker is going to be Megatron for at least the next FIVE YEARS. I can't fathom how you could not stand Burton that much. I'll live with Welker, I guess, but there's no comparison when you consider that we're stuck with the same TV show, better or worse, for the next 3-5 years. None.

All I know is I will laugh my ass off if Shockwave's in this show and Corey Burton doesn't voice him. Wouldn't surprise me if the G1 nods ended at Cullen and Welker: it'd certainly fit this production team's MO going by their past work. Not that I mind, I'd gladly take Jeffrey Combs over Judd Nelson.

In my personal opinion, Burton's Megatron > Welker's G1 Megatron. Welker's Prime Megatron...too early to say but sounds very promising.

Didn't they both do KARR in the original Knight Rider series? I think one did KARR in season one, and the other did KARR in season three? Cause in that clip I can so hear both KARR's.
Anyway, great to see the two back together again. Awesome stuff! TF3 is looking better and better already!

Welker still has it. He combined his Galvatron with Megatron. I love it.

 

Welker is the true Megatron like Cullen is the True Optimus. Greatest 2 cartoon voice overs ever.
