    Hey-ah guys! THQ + Relic has got themselves an action coming out based on the Warhammer 40k universe titled Warhammer 40K: Space Marine.

    When I see a Space Marine rolling, they make of think of TFA's Ultra Magnus. A while ago I saw some pre-alpha gameplay footage and the game looks to me more of a God of War style action game, with some gunfire. A new trailer is up and compared to when I saw it last, they got their stuff polished! Here's the video.

    it's been retooled to be an action RPG.

    Hopefully those up close punching segments from the original video are scrapped. they looked stupid, and would totally ruin the pace of gameplay.

    Impressive! Hopefully the designers will capture the essence of the Space Marines as incredible superhuman killing machines and not present them as stock 'hero' game characters.

    They need to get the setting right as well, none of the 40k video games i've played have ever done a decent job of depicting the soul destroying misery that defines the universe or that the Imperium is just as much the villian as all the other powers.

    Well, that stuff could be dispelled if you look at the W40K: Firewarrior game. Sure the game wasnt all that good but the Empire was the enemy. Also the W40K Universe is usuaully through the perspective of the Empire and the story is more or a less a story about mankind in the 40k universe, so the Space Marines are probably going to look that shining glorious hero type because that's what the story is about. It if was up to me, I'd be siding with Tau rolling in their Crisis suits.

    As for why Ultramarines? *shrug* Why not, they're the most generic of the Space Marines.

    And they've been Games Workshop's poster boys for a long time now.
    Then again, Relic used Blood Ravens for DOW...

    Simple...UM is the best chapter in the Imperium that's why! I'd buy this game just for the opportunity to kick the Orc's collective asses as the proud Ultramarine! :D

    It.. doesn't look to bad actually. I was keeping my hopes way down.

    (Slightly amused that the space marine appears to have gelled his hair. Typical Ultramarine.)

    Hoping for DLC playing as a Grey Knight on a demon world.

    I want this, I used to play Space Hulk the board game, and Space Hulk the PC games many many years ago.

    Also, punching of some sort needs to be in there surely, powerfists and all that.

    Oh, and I'd love to actually watch the video, but the IGN page is shit and keeps on asking for my age.

    I love the Warhammer 40,000 universe so I'll be thinking about buying this, but if it has a great multiplayer feature the chance to buy this will upgrade from a 'maybe' to a 'definitely'.

    There are many who would argue that point. :p 

    But eh, I'm okay with this, a good change from Relic's staple that is the Blood Ravens.

    There's supposed to be a 4-player co-op for this game. But there's been no word on the development status of that. I'm still hoping.
