Looks like it's on me to create an appreciation/discussion thread about one of my favorite crime dramas since nobody has taken the time and effort to! If there are any other fans of this show, post away about your favorite characters, storylines, and episodes!
Been watching this series since day 1, and yeah, there's been a few times I wondered why we didn't have a discussion thread. BUT..... After watching tonite's ep, I'm not sure I want to be a fan anymore. Actually this entire season has been one of the darkest ever. I know there are sicko's IRL out there, and yep, the BAU goes after the BADDEST of the BAD, but whoa, I just feel like now they're giving some sicko an idea or two, which is scary. Too many copycats in the world. I still love the characters and glad some have stayed and others returned...but the storylines are much more intense, it's not something I feel pleasure after watching...or even entertained anymore...I just feel sick and drained. Sad. All of that being said, I like Aaron, Derek, Penelope and AJ (or JJ) then Rossi the best.
The increased darkness and intensity of this season's storylines is what makes and keeps this show strong. Plus, the fact that the BAU goes after the BADDEST of the BAD when no one else can is the show's second great silver lining. The first one being Garcia, who brings charm and a laugh or two despite the darkness and intensity in any given episode. Speaking of tonight's episode and correct me if I'm wrong, Was the Reid's mystery woman played by Beth Riesgraf (Parker from TNT's Leverage)?
If it weren't for Garcia, I probably wouldn't still be watching. For realz... she's the everybody, everyday folk IMHO, she says what most of us are thinking when we see or hear of such gory sights or details. I secretly keep hoping she and Derek will take it to another level...I know, they are bro/sis for the most part...but it would be good for both of them. Who knows, maybe they are having a juicy affair....off camera. I kid....a little. Sorry, can't answer your Leverage question...didn't watch that series at all. BUT I was hoping for Reid to finally meet the girl...he needs some lovin' in his life too. When all you do is analyze sicko's...you know he needs to balance that out with somebody to hug.
I was a fan, a BIG one (Reid was my favorite) but after season 6 it got really muddy, Prestiss leaving, JJ leaving, and then having the awful Rachel Nichols in there for a while which was rediculous because no intern would be allowed to go to the BAU she was just starting out in the FBI, then they realized their mistake and brought back JJ and Prestiss but by then the tone had just changed and I found I had 8 Criminal MInds on my DVr and I just had no desire to watch them anymore, and there were less and less episodes about Reid and no character development
This is one of my favorite shows on TV now. I started watching after Rossi was already a member of the team. Now I try to catch every new episode and reruns in syndication. Love all the characters! I think that girl is the copy cat criminal
Criminal Minds is returning as Criminal Minds: Evolution, set to begin streaming Thursday 24 November 2022 on Paramount+ in the USA.
It's nice to see that Delko is still working law enforcement. Also, really happy to see David Rossi is still in it. He was my favorite character in the original. It all looks pretty good, to be honest.
