This is some crazy crap here. This kid is just flying his remote controlled quadrocoptor (hundreds of feet) over a public beach and this lady has a fit because he happens to have a camera on it. She calls the cops three times and they ignore her, so she pounces on him and starts beating him and tearing his shirt open. The entire time, he has his iphone on recording the incident. The woman got arrested for 3rd degree assault. Wish I could of seen footage of her getting arrested. I bet she threw a fit.

I honestly don't blame him for not fighting and I applaud his restraint. Hit back and he'd go to jail right with her.

 

So I wonder how this is gonna turn into a political argument this time.

The quadrocopter's camera is a goldmine for all sorts of political debates, no doubt. Invasion of privacy and all that.

... which is a genuinely interesting topic which many will dismiss "because cameras are everywhere already". Which is kinda scary.
Not that it justifies assaulting someone or anything.

See; I can get my head around not liking someone flying a camera/capture equipped device around a beach given the viral nature of the internet. So I understand a negative reaction, but this is just an absurdly disproportionate response that has made the woman look like the bigger jackass AND zeroed the internet hate machine right on her.

Oh and of course now a chance of having a criminal record, so top marks for that sunshine. Christ it's like a micro-singularity of Murphy's Law.

The way he was flying it there is no way you are invading someone's privacy. He was 100 feet up. People are a small spec in the video. The kid done the right thing. If you are worried about privacy invasion from a 100 foot high camera with no zoom in capabilities you should be worried about everyone with a cell phone because quality is better and it can zoom in.

She strikes me as somebody whose 'real life' behaviour has been warped by online interactions. Ie, people on the internet can be total assholes because of the anonimity, so she's allowed this to pervade into her real life interactions.

Then what she understands of helicopter camera's is obviously this young kid is recording naked women sunbathing on the beach or something equally suspect.

Sprinkle this with a dose of internet white knighting (gotta defend the wimmin folk community!) and she suddenly goes nuts.

If that happened to me... well I would have given her a warning or two then immobilized her. Would have been easy enough to put her into an armlock.
