what are the crappiest 3rd mode you've encountered
Remember ROTF Deluxe Soundwave?
"Mini-Jet" mode. A mode so crappy, after they got the copy for the instructions, they didn't
even bother labeling it.
I loved rotf soundwave, he had tonnes of fan modes, each better than the official ones!
Many of the BW transmetal 3rd modes were pretty ropey, but Transmetal Megs (both of them) were pretty horrific, if not hilarious. An evil robotic T-rex on rollerskates? Brilliant.
You mean Superion limb / Metroplex armour mode?
Those little guys could be plugged into Metroplex' arms and legs
rotf rampage's battle mode. just give him a freakin stand like arcee and chromia.
Transmetal third "modes" rocked, mostly because they weren't actual third modes, just stuff the beast modes could do. They're as much "third modes" as stealth force. Also the roller skates were not the vehicle parts, the VTOL engines were. I think the skates were supposed to be landing gear, but nobody uses them. Rampage's tank mode is cooler than his crab mode.
TM2 Megatron's thrid mode reeks of abandoned concept. Yeah he's got wheels, but none on the dragon head, which just scrapes across the floor. Tigerhawk had signs of an abandoned third mode as well.
Just about all of them
Classics Rodimus' "battle mode". All it is really is just the spoiler part folded up so the flame cannon thing is pointing fowards. Since the spoiler is folded up for robot mode anyway, this just feels kind of lazy because this is really just a mid-transformation step than a whole new mode.
I'm also not a big fan of the "official" third form for HA Sandstorm, namely because it lacks any independency by lack of support without being held by a larger robot. Repositioning the legs to act as support vastly improves the versatility of the third mode.
Isn't it possible to detatch the shovel and re-orient it so that it could function as a stand for that mode? I don't own the toy myself, plus I like the idea of a semi-human quadruped Decepticon Rampage has, so I never really cared for the pogo-stick mode.
Generations Darkmount has a pretty crappy 3rd mode.
Worst 3rd mode for me would be G1 Trypticons base mode, something just didn't look right about it.As for his attack and bot mode those were The Sh**.Don't flame me for saying that about one of the greatest fandom figures.Later guys.
Optimal optimus flight mode.
RotF Mixmaster's cannon mode. Mix's hard enough to transform, don't need to look at both Hasbro's and Takara's instructions (and several fan videos) just to let him use that cannon on his back.
I really hate all of the G1 combiner leaders third modes, namely Hun-grr's soft serve ice cream machine mode.& I also hate DOTM human alliance basic weapon modes. One more thing I hate as a third mode it DOTM Steeljaw's mace mode.
Some are good but most are not. I love Backfires cannon mode looks awesome on Leader Ironhide's shoulder.
Cybertron Primus' "battle station" mode.
Pretty much any "third mode" that was clearly included as an afterthought.
Only if you meant that to be the 3rd mode of the 4 available
Yea... maybe the toy designer had an eureka moment when trying to split eerr break an egg to make omelette.
Generations Wheeljack's flight mode. Don't get me wrong - he's a fantastic figure, but that mode was clearly an afterthought.
