I really liked this show. I thought it was great. It's a shame it's cancelled.

Yeah, I tried watching the anime, but it didn’t do much for me. It was mostly background noise.

I’m not surprised the live action got the ax with as much grief that it got. It probably cost Netflix some change with not enough viewers.

Maybe they can try again- and maybe next time listen to the fans. Maybe cast someone who won’t get all butt hurt because a few people questioned the wardrobe.

I tried to enjoy the show but I found the sets like the ship or the bars that looked like they came from the distant future in such conflict with the low budget exteriors like the buildings and the cars that looked like they came from 2021 New Zealand to be just too distracting to hold my interest.

Never watched the anime then I guess? The stark contrast between the existence of space ships and the squalor of the planetary poor is kinda the point of the setting. Feel like that's where firefly got its setting idea from cowboy bebop.

    Agreed.
One thing I noticed from the toon is how much of a Firefly vibe I got.
    Whedon probably watched the show.

Aw, that's disappointing. Season 1 left the series with lots of room to move going forward, and I was really interested to see where those ideas were taking it.

Same was looking forward to seeing how they'd add to it, although I wasn't looking forward to villain Julia, for season 2 wish she'd went the way of her anime counterpart.

This is why shows should have an ending to a season and not a cliff hanger.

    Gundam can work.
Mega Man? Maybe. (First I'm hearing of this)
One Piece, they already made a casting mistake.

Cowboy Bebop dominated me from the early to mid 2000s. It's every bit of my life as many other shows. As a long time fan...the costume design was fine. Worry less about the costumes and more about how they massacred my poor boys and girls.

Jet was fine though. Mustafa Shakir more or less nailed Jet. The one shining thing in an otherwise painful show.

I guess I gotta expedite me finishing the show. I wish I wasn't in our busy season just so I can marathon this shit, haha, give my final thoughts on it.

Just this once, we are shown mercy.

Que the passive aggressive cope from the mainstream media.

    I dunno about Gundam.

The issue is that Gundam is usually more complicated than just giant robots, and given how terrible relatively simple comic / manga adaptions tend to be I have no faith they'll do the series justice. They'll just dumb it down and remove any nuance / complexity.

While I still prefer the manga and OVA, the recent movie adaption was pretty damn sweet. I'd definitely be game for seeing more of that.
