No what stopped it was mods deciding people went to far in discussing it and cleaning the thread. It was also suggested that talk of that type should stop, so it might be best to not start it up again.

I've never cared too much about Faye, I am more worried about what they'll do to Ed.

Just watched the first episode and right off the bat the show lets you know they're not doing a one on one remake of the original anime; I mean that's obvious given these episodes are extended to 40-50 minutes compared to the 20 so minutes. It's not going to replace the original anime for sure and yeah, there are some generic parts to the show. But I can tell you I did like John Cho as Spike and I think people are going to universally agree that Mustafa Shakir nailed it as Jet Black. You can feel the honour for Beau Billingsea's original dub performance from him. The action is decent and the visual effects although wonky at times are done well. The Cowboy Bebop world in live action is actually alive.

And yes, there are changes. No surprise... I'd be honest, making Jet be an
    actual family man
is a pretty cliche backstory since there was still much to emphasise with him originally. As the first episode, some of the elements from the original Asteroid Blues episode were actually replicated well. Oh and
Faye shows up already as a bounty hunter and I'm really not sure about her character yet since anime watchers know she was introduced a little later
. So yeah, I'm looking forward to every change this show is doing with my reactions being 'really' to 'huh'.

This thing came out, so I gathered some weebs together and we binged it.

And just like I and many others were expecting it would be, it's absolute dogshit. I wish I could say that I'm tired of constantly being right about these shitty Netflix adaptations but that's not really true at all. But due to how Netflix measures its """""success""""" this crap will probably get another season anyway, not at all due to the quality of it's writing and characters.

Another shitty adaption of a Japanese IP going straight into the bin with all the others.

...I like how its a different take on the 90s series which is all the better as it separates the two shows completely. That and the soundtrack is still on point.

It's kind of like when they would adapt some manga/anime series into movies, especially in the 80's, where it's be a condensed, remixed retelling of the basic plot (prime example: Fist of the North Star, 1986 film).

I got to admit Fifth Element actually kind of pulled that over top type stuff....a little less cringy, if that's possible. I mean Chris Tuckers character doesn't seem so bad now after that.

    I'm on ep 3.

I dunno, if your opinion before watching was it's gonna suck, it's gonna suck for you.

I think it's ok so far.

    Shakir is perfect as Jet

I'm kinda torn on Cho as Spike. I know it's impossible to capture some of Spike anime-type-limb movements from the Anime, but it definitely doesn't translate well to live action.

From what I've seen of Vicious, I don't like that either.

    We'll see how it goes.

I don't really think it's that bad but then again I was never really a fan of Ed and apparently neither were the characters in the anime because she just leaves and no one questions it or goes looking for her.

    Wow, that’s awful.

I haven’t watched the show yet, but everything about that clip was terrible. It reminded me of Lexx, but at least that show was entertaining and creative.

Seemed like the actress was trying to do Tiny Tina instead of Ed. Ed is over the top, but Ed needs to do it in a cute way not obnoxious.

Japanese audio version is a bit better as it uses Ed's original voice actress.

Watched the first ep - seemed pretty on point for what a live action cowboy bepop would turn out to look like. Will watch more.
