I agree. I'm not gonna get my hopes up for a SUPER MEGA FANTASTICAL movie with critical acclaim, but I'm excited about the characterization they're setting up for the Transformers themselves.

 

Because obviously he's outmatched physically so how else should he try to take him down? that only adds to his badassery in my opinion. Calculating only attacks when he has the advantage says a lot about his character and makes him a unique villian that we haven't seen in the movies yet. I think he's gonna be one of the best ever

It looked like Optimus was fully aware when he punched him into that wall. And just because you don't go head on to a fight with someone who is physically stronger and bigger than you doesn't make you lame or anything. (I know you didn't call him that but you're agreeing that he isn't badass). Lockdown's a hunter and a damn smart fighter which makes him very badass to me. It's different to see a transformer with STRATEGY go into a fight instead of the head on clashes we always see. But don't get me wrong I live for the transformers fight scenes

 

Lockdown is the type of character that is paid to get a job done, and will get the job done efficiently and by any means possible. There is no such thing as honor to him; simply another bounty. His mission is to get OP, and he does so when the best opportunity presents itself. And he does it quite well- not many could torture OP. Plus, we know they fight at least three times anyway, so he can at least hold his ground against OP.

Honestly the trailers/TV spots focus on TFs a lot, so that's a good sign, but honestly, the others did too and it was still mostly about the humans, and frankly (and I know I'm in the very small minority here) I'll take Shia over Mark and day of the week. I think it has a strong chance of being as good as TFTM, but I doubt it will be noticeably better.
