How bad do you think the Virus will affect the release date of PS5/Xbox? And if they keep release dates does that mean pre-orders are going to be more important than ever?

Pre-orders were never important. I'm trying to think of a console that came out since N64 when I thought to myself "I want to buy this now vs wait until more games come out for it"

Depends on production levels and the global economy. If the global economy is down, retailers will scale down orders. If the production levels are low due to manufacturing delays, there will a heightened ratio of demand vs supply. If they are coupled together, then the lack of demand will mean slower sales and a slower launch. (And a billion articles asking, "Are Consoles Dead?")

Yeah, but factory plants and cargo ships will be behind schedule if there shutdown for a couple of months.

Then maybe this will teach companies for making their products outside of their home countries.

Please... People whine about 60 dollar games.. Just wait till they have to pay close to 200 for a single game cause it's manufacturer in the US.

You'd have the same issue if production were closer to home; when you have a world-wide pandemic, everybody is affected. It just means that it's more expensive if you happen to have manufacturing in a developed country. Besides (at the risk of getting political here - mods, please stomp on me if I go too far) the U.S. doesn't really have the best labor protection laws as it is - would it really be a good idea to lower the existing protection so you manufacturing can compete with China? Those places are like slave labor camps. No wait, they're not LIKE slave labor camps they ARE slave labor camps - hence their ability to keep costs down.

Anyhow...back on track; you'd have the same problem during a global pandemic, no matter where the manufacturing is based.

I'm pretty sure you're company would still want too get your product too the other countries. Just because you make something in America doesn't mean you don't have a large overseas financial deals. And if your losing money overseas you gonna make it up somewhere else meaning price hike.

See, that is a lousy excuse. They could easily manufacturer them here and keep them at the normal price, they just don't want to.

Anyway, for the topic at hand, I couldn't care less if it delayed a launch since it just means less wait time before the actual good PS5 games come out.

I could be wrong but aren't alot of games (not all) developed and manufactured in other countries meaning there would still be delays in the good games.

That wouldn't have any effect on their development though. What I mean is if a PS5 game is not due until say next May, and the console doesn't end up launching until Feb, that means there's only a 3 month wait for that game instead of a 5-7 month wait.

If the Virus gets worse over the summer could E3 and Comic-con be next?

No big loss on E3, but I don't see it lasting that long. It'll be out of the news in a month, if not sooner. As soon as Spring hits, that thing is going to cease to exist.

Oh it'll spread throughout the US. Because either sick people or carriers will cause the spread because "I don't care if you're sick! You're coming into work today or you're fired!"

Not only that, the US has normalized germaphobia so much, that even people who SHOULD have good immune systems, don't because they over sanitize everything.
