Inspired by the toy threads, what is a concept or factor of the property that you cannot stand but a lot of people seem to love?

Personally I despise DotM Megatron. Being a Mad Max truck looks stupid and doesn't fit Megatron to me.

I hate seeing Beast Wars characters in the Autobot/Decepticon era. The Beast Wars characters represent a new generation of Cybertronians. That makes the race more believable as a sci-fi race if we know generations rise and fall; that Cybertron is solely the civil war. A good analogy is that it's like seeing Data on Kirk's enterprise. It's just wrong in my eyes.

Beast modes. Just not in my taste.

I never care for the Beast modes alone. I can understand it for Robots in Disguise to blend in as camo or even that they return.

Megatron's gun mod from G1. I can never understand why a warlord would choose an alt mode that's not only stupid but defies physics in a stupid manner. A tank, jet, bomber, helicopter even a mack tanker truck is a more perferible alt mode for him,

Megatron as a gun, that's just stupid.

"Starscream, carry me into battle so I can fire upon a speeding semi truck." Seriously, a tank would of been better.

A limitation imposed by the figures they had available. It is a credit to the original creative teams that they somehow managed to craft such memorable character bases with those things. Note how the mode in question has never been replicated (bar a 'classics' Megatron) in any version of Megatron produced later; even Galvatron got to be an artillary peice.

Hasbro is a toy company, they could of created a tank transformer and had that be Megatron in the carton and comics.

Heck, they could of just simply had the Starscream model be Megatron if they wanted too. Tank, jet, attack helicopter, a non gun Megatron could of happen if they wanted to do it.

One-handed Shockwave. I don't like the idea of a character not having two functioning hands (barring the loss of one via injury). If it was something like Animated Red Alert's multi-tool, then at least it would be useful. For someone who is almost always depicted as a scientist (and should be off the front lines), I don't see how a gun would be more important to have. Especially the massive artillery cannons that DOTM and TFP Shockwaves are packing.

Turning Shockwave's hand into a multi-tool like you suggested would be perfect for him.

I hate pretty much everything they have done. even stopped reading transformer comics all together, something I never have done before.

Not for a new and untested IP; they could have done it after season 1 if the toy sales were good enough, but sank most of the RnD into other new characters instead.

Either way, point is that it's relic of it's time and other than that one sort of crappy classics toy and the masterpiece, isn't one they've bothered to revisit in any meaningful way.

I'm not a fan of "ninja" transformers. Transformers who are proficient in hand to hand combat are cool, and being able to sneak around and avoid detection makes sense,, but when they start being able to pull off insta-clones and mind-over-matter stuff I get the sense we've left all reality behind. Wasnt even a fan when Sixshot got the whole anime-ninja makeover for Headmasters, guy was already a one bot army, no need to exaggerate his power beyond that.

Yeah, that's McNinja stuff, Punch/Counterpunch is probably a closer representation of a Ninja than TFA Prowl; who combines the inherent cool of 'the Ninja' by being stealthy and quick but giving him an ethos more in line with a peacetime Samurai.

    I second this.

I also don't really get the love for Animated Bulkhead. He isn't bad, but I don't find him all that great either.

    Robot facial hair

    Sparks

    Robot afterlife

The fact that the premise of the original series had the Cybertronians basically destroyed for 4 million years and easily revived yet the Movie set the precedent for ending of artificial life. Absurd.

The necessity for fembots to have human boobs and hips.

Duocons and partsformers with the exception of the -masters.

    Transformers Animated.

    Bayverse Transformers.

Beast Wars as an in-continuity series. Had it been its own thing I would have probably enjoyed it a bit.

    The Wreckers.
