Blitzwing the first triple changer with alt modes of a jet and tank in TF3 DOTM - YouTube
transformers Triplechanger tutorial « Cinema 4d Tutorial

I don’t know if anyone saw this video, but it’s absolutely stunning and the designers should be allowed to work on the films.

As for Blitzwing himself, I think his design is great, but these films have kind of sent Triple and Six-Changers into unemployment, and anyway you can tell from the video’s shots that they had to cheat a bit since those particular altmodes can’t work together.

But that video is fantastic, no doubt about it.

This was doing the rounds a couple of months before DOTM came out. Nice idea, but I can't see Earth-mode triple-changers working with the movie aesthetic.

Yeah, screenshots of this were passed around as concept/preview images for a TF3 Blitzwing way back when, but it was kind of obviously a fake. At least now we know where it's from.

While I think the animators did a good job, the transformation sequences are extremely unclear, and it doesn't seem to actually transform, just kinda shift around. Still rather impressive.

As much as I like the design, that is Transmorphers level CGI.

All Bayverse Transformers are Triple- if not more- changers.

Different matter - Laserbeak regularly sheds his alt mode in favour of a new one, as Frenzy did in the first movie. What we're talking about here is a robot mode that visibly features parts from both vehicle modes, which completely falls down as soon as they transform into one of those modes (you'd have a fighter jet with visible tank treads, for one).

That design is terrible, just different parts of each vehicle stuck randomly onto the design. Anyway, this is stuff we saw back in the early days... (2009?) anywho, someone lock the thread and/or delete it

Not to knock the artists... But there was no real flow. He couldhave shifted around and become a giant mailbox instead of a tank.

I don't see why the movie aesthetic wouldn't work for triple changers. This isn't mean as bashing, but the designs are just vehicle parts hanging off a core robot body, and the size and shape of those robots are pretty varied across the three movies. I don't see why a robot design with wings couldn't be sticking off a body alongside treads and a tank turret.

Well, between ROTF Megatron, all the "stealth force" bits, Mixmaster, and Laserbeak, we've already had multichanging aspects in the Bay films. I don't see why they COULDN'T, but it'd be tough to do right, both on-screen and in toy format.

Simple solution: The production company gets the vehicle modes locked in, Hasbro makes the toy design first, and then the movie designers make a design based on it, make it a little more complicated so it can fit in with the other robots on screen.
