I try and back up my files to DVD with my DVD Burner and it does it for a few seconds then quits. It worked fine last week, till i ran out of a certain DVD-R brand. I tried some of the ones i had before but had problems with.. Nothing.. Won't write to them. I try it about 5-6 times with different disks. Still nothing. I burn a CD disk perfectly fine.

Well I pick up a pack of the brand my PC likes, but they look a little different. Normally they are gold colored. These are pure white on top. Well They are inkjet printable. Same Brand and style, just printable. But the same problem exists.

Is it just bad disks? Is there a program i can install for better burning? I use SonicRecordNow! as my burning. Please help...

Sounds like your burner is toast to me. How many DVDs have you burned?

The + and - thing are different DVD formats. Some burners do one or the other, or both.

I'm not really sure if they make different disks for the two formats, as I don't have a DVD burner.

Retry the brand and type that did work. Depending on the burner, software, & disks you can get different results. It can be tricky, I know!!!! Lol.

I'll check to see if the disks that worked are +R or -R.... I may just need +Rs. I find it odd that it won't burn a DVD yet burns CDs fine..

Well both are compatible it seems... I'll return the DVDs since they didn't work. May try another brand.. If that doesn't work i guess it is shot...
