2nd Set Started: ROTF Insecticlones Well, i think that's what you call the insecticon doubles of Bombshell, Shrapnel Kickback. It would've been Insecticon swarm, but they were defective ones, and these ones aren't...hopefully. So far i've only gotten Shrapnel and Bombshell's clones done. Dunno what i'm gonna name them though. I really don't like Shothole, that's for sure . So yeah, I made these out Of ROTF Knock Outs, basing their colour schemes on the G1 versions. The wheels have been ripped out and I'm still trying to get some suitable horns for them (should attach via the swivel joint the front wheel used to be on). The ball joints on their shoulders may be cut off, depending on whether the horns need them, etc. Therefore, only Bot mode pics until i get suitable horns. Am currently conidering whether to make ten and a big Gestalt out of them...Hmm...Will have to think more on that one. EDIT: Oh, i guess i should mention the one on the left is Bombshell and the one on the right is Shrapnel...Well, their clones, at any rate. Update 1/6/09: Better photos of Bombshell and Shrapnel. Update 1/6/09 (#2): Kickback! Yes, unfortunately the panels on the sides of his legs do come off for the robot mode. Not because it's necessary, but it differentiates him a bit more. Plus, i need them off for his (grasshopper?) mode. Will have the panels attached if the Gestalt ever works. Now all i need are the horns for each and i'll be ready for the alt mode pics. Update 7/6/09: Alt Mode Pics for Shrapnel! Sorry for the long wait, didn't feel like kitbashing after a fig got stolen. Enough procrastinating, here's Shrapnel's alt. mode. The side panels on his legs now become insect legs (with some imagination). And i've got horns! Probably my first *cough* success *cough* with styrene. Yay! Update 27/6/09: Kickback Complete, with Wings! Sorry it took so long, it's just that trying to make wings that won't interfere with his transfromation is hard. In the end, i had to slot them onto the ball joint between his arms and torso. They're held on with friction, because of the tight gap between te shoulders and the torso. Anyway, i hope you like it. 29/06/09: The 1st set is done! Yes, Bombshell is finally complete, although his horn is definitely the weakest of the three (i'm not used to complicated styrene builds ). And i had accidents with the glue, so hopefully the 2nd set will be better. 7/12/09: The next set has been started! Yes, I have finally revisited this old project and taken it off the backburner to finally get that second set up and running. Right now, i've got Bombshell fully painted and complete, and will finish Kickback once i get some more black paint. Bombshell's been slightly changed from the last time round, this time his horn DOESN'T looks like a cobbled together piece of junk, rather i finally gopt the hang of build ing with very thing aluminium rods and styrene. Also, i swapped out the Mithril Silver paint i used to use on the horns for Chrome Silver, which loks a lot better (though the photos don't do it justice). The purple paint has been swapped out the same, in favour of GW Liche Purple (my new favorite purple paint), and though less G1 accurate, it looks a lot better that the originals. And on that Geewun-destroying bombshell, Enjoy*! Alt mode pics soon. BTW, it's the last Pic attached. *Has been watching too much Top Gear.
Very cool. I see we both share an interest in movie styled insecticons. I have a Bombshell in the works too, but going in a different direction. I like the whole insecticlones idea too. And 10 of them combined would be awesome!
Idea... It might be a little hard to find unless you have them already but howabout using arms or legs from Beast Wars basics figures for the insect limbs?
Thanks for the nice words, everyone. I thought about that, but i figure that with the size of these figures, i might as well use Legends Scorpy (07'), and the fact he's on clearance doesn't hurt either. Can't wait to see your Bombshell. The combiner thing is still in the works, mainly requiring a big head and some suitable hands. And i have to say, i hadn't planned to make these, Knock Out's head is just too good to pass up.
Thanks a lot Big Hank! Unfortunately, it has been brought to my attention that the pictures don't show that they are painted to resemble the cockpits from G1. So i have added new pictures accordingly.
I know that everyone's going blue by now, but you'll just have to wait a bit longer. I need to get the horns done first. And that means getting some styrene to work with tomorrow. Just a tiny bit longer... Ah yeah, for those who still haven't figured it out yet (not anyone in particular), they will turn into what will hopefully look half like an insect. Not a Motorcycle.
Well, here's some more robot mode pics (no alts yet ), of the last *variation of* Insecticlone, Kickback! Now just need to make these guys some horns.
Thanks a lot for the comments, everyone. Yay, i finally have Shrapnel's horns done! The paint's still curing, so i'm gonna have to wait till tomorrow for the alt mode pics. Enjoy this one pic in the meantime!
I've been working on a gestalt, all the... *ahem* Finally got the hands sorted for that gestalt. Found a spare KO Combiner, so i'll just rip that up. Having a few problems, though. The limbs and torso are all fine, but i'm still working on the connections, as right now it looks a bit, well, thin where the joints are. However, i have managed to secure three more Knock Outs...
Wha...HUH? Must have missed where they are gonna combine! Ultra cool factor increased by +10! Shrapnel's horns look great! Do you have a Gestalt name picked out?
Lots of people have been telling me to use Sideways for Bombshell or Kickback. Unfortunately, I've already made the 'clone' version of Shrapnel Kickback and Bombshell. I'll keep it in mind, though, incase i ever feel like making another set.
