Perhaps if we did get a new Menasor in Generations after seeing this and the fans wanting it, Hasbro could do a set like FoC Bruticus and put them in these colors in a G2 box.

Ya know...not for nothin'... but considering all the items this seller seems to have on deck, and the enormous amount of money that stands to be made... well, it would be nice to see at least one or two of these auctions go to benefit a charity of some kind.

No offense taken. But I dont believe toys were meant to be collected in silly baggies. They are meant to be enjoyed. The value of MISB toys might be high, but the expierence of displaying them and enjoying them is priceless. Imagine if you went to a museum and every display item was crunched up in a little clear bag ?

I totally agree with what you are saying .... EXCEPT this is not a released toy like every other toy that you can buy in Target Walmart TRU what have you. This is a prototype of a unreleased Menasor set. And it should be in a museum.

My question (and I haven't read this whole thread) is, Are these fans bidding on this, or just toy collectors? Do they want it because it's a rare Transformer, or because it's a rare toy?

Maybe I'm not getting my point across. :(

I really want to see this go to a person who loves Transformers for the sake of being Transformers...not some hot shot toy collector who doesn't really give a rip about Transformers outside of the fact that they can fetch some serious money on the secondary market.

It would be fantastic to see this go to a Transformers collector, preferably one who would be willing to photograph and share the item with the community. I suspect whoever wins the auction will likely not come out of the woodwork though.

Would AFA grade something like this that was never sold to the public? I wonder also if they would consider items in stapled baggies to be "uncirculated".

Honestly, I'd be happy with a minty G1 Menasor. I'm going to watch this auction, though.

Once this sells for a ridiculous price...

Can someone who knows insiders at Hasbro or Takara please screenshot the ended auction, and suggest they finally release this thing? Money talks... I wish they would re-release most of G2 while their at it.

Comments on how these should be opened up and played with make me giggle. It's like buying Paul Reviers saddle and putting it on a horse to use it around the farm, or loading up John Wilkes Booths gun to go target practice. Toy or not, this set is part of history and should be treated as such.

We talked about doing this set as a boxed set for the convention a few years back. Decided against it. It was just one of many idea we threw around years ago.

With these molds? That's a fantastic idea. Why decide against it?

There is a HUGE difference between one of only a dozen known samples, and trying to sell tens of thousands of the same thing.

Secondary market prices really aren't any sort of accurate gauge to what might actually sell at actual retail. Especially on test shot/preproduction items like this.

I'd guarantee that if this was ever produced, it'd be a repeat of the Seacon reissue (still available, cheaply, years after the fact)

Agreed. I'd be all over this. I even asked Pete about it at Botcon last year.

    Ebay:
if i could afford it i would open them and display them in my showcase as mensor but since i cant oh well. I would like to see the ko menasor set get this treatment of recoloring so everyone could at least have a sample of what real rarity is and then everyone could enjoy having a set and this set could go to a museum

I agree with some of the others that this would be a dud if issued on a large scale. It's absolutely hideous and only has value because of its rarity. I honestly wouldn't pay $75 for this thing if it was a mass release.

I would buy this in an instant.

I don't think this is hideous at all... I absolutely love the colors.
