You know what I find interesting.

I could still technically call Megatron is fascist and you could still have fascist ideas for Megatron.

Fascism in the early 20s and '30s was seen as a revolutionary ideology to on part with socialism when it comes to actual actual goal. for instance bonito Mussolini wanted to bring back The holy Roman empire She did not blame capitalism. ( He had a lot of backing from pro-war businesses )He blamed from "crony corporatism" and thought for a way to "amend the divide between capital owner and labor."

Now I haven't read the whole thing and I apologize but from what I can tell

Piece through tyranny and sprouted from that sounds a lot like this fascism really. Even the idea of proletarians revolting And are now the dominant power is really cool until you bring up that other freaking races exist other cultures and ethnicities planets, especially after draining of the energon resources on the planet.

Domination and subjugation of planets is still authoritarianism just because you want to save your species at the expense of others is not an excuse. You could still use the resources. Make energon out of sunlight. You don't have to drain the entire sun. You don't have to destroy the gravitational force.
Just because you want your particular species to survive.

Freedom is right of all sentient beings

Oh man, this is really good. You’ve come up with a solid and interesting backstory here, and you’ve done it without just copying what James Roberts and Alex Irvine came up with. (Which has been a problem ever since those backstories became the default)

One question though. If Optimus never wanted anything to do with the title of Prime, why was he initially chosen? Is something like the Matrix involved in automatically selecting a new Prime?

I think based on the set up, primes are recruited based upon aptitude tests or something like that, when they’re still young. It’s not like being a commander of the whole country, it’s more like knighthood, so it kind of makes sense that somebody could get into it and then decide it wasn’t really their thing after all.

It’s exactly this. You’ve got robots that are custom builds, suited for specific, highly skilled fields and then those built on assembly lines on spec for backbreaking menial labor. Everyone’s built for service and then when their contracts are up they can elect to reenlist or go into the private sector. The ones built on spec are forcefed a data cocktail primer (the basics on language, arithmetic, history) given a designation number and shipped off. The custom builds go through a more traditional learning/training process that includes aptitude testing. A miner or construction worker could request the testing themselves but they’d be at an inherent disadvantage.

So someone like Optimus got flagged and sent off pretty early on, without any real say in the matter.

The Matrix (or Vector Sigma, etc) is the factory operating system at the planet’s core. But it’s open sourced, originally for the Quintesson’s use, and the Senate “communes” with it by inputting how many robots they need and to what specifications. Alpha Trion’s significance (Production number A-3, from the Quintesson’s very first line of Transformers) is as the living Key to Vector Sigma. Only he can open or lockdown the planetary source code, although he hasn’t had direct access in a long time (since opening it up for the Senate way back when). At the outset of the war he and Optimus locked it down to prevent Megatron from accessing it so any new Transformers after that point were old backlog Sparks/Brain modules built out with whatever happened to be lying around

Having read IDW2 now, I concur that IDW2 Megatron is better than IDW1 Megatron. The only IDW1 writer who could really handle a complex portrayal of Megs was Roberts; but he actually never tackled the thought process of Megatron during his atrocities, only in the pre-war and post-war period, which is why he had that annoying character plothole (charhole?) in that Megatron was always a little too cuddly and fuzzy. I would have liked even more emphasis on Autobot Megatron's cunning and cleverness, other than what Roberts revealed in Dying of the Light.

I don't think Eric Holmes or Flint Dille had the chops to really give us a deep look at IDW1 Megs.

Brian Ruckley's Megatron is indeed a lot better because he feels entirely realistic. He wants power, and he thinks he deserves it, and it's tied up with his ideas about his mentors' power and his own sort-of savior/always-right complex. I am pleased by how well Ruckley's stuff held up when I read it all as one huge story, although it was way too decompressed to go well with a monthly episodic format.

    Rewind was.

Although if only 5-10% of the population is female, I don't believe it's very unusual, and Megatron and OP do have some interesting chemistry in many continuities.

Just wanted to say... DWJ finally nailed it in the Skybound comics. It's THE Optimus Prime portrayal.

So I believe. It's kinda the main reason I want to give the series a try. It's because of how prime is written.

IDW1 Megatron removed his helmet so we could se his sunflower metallic hair.
That was both the funniest and the worst thing that has ever happened to that character.

The only way that any Megatron can rise to prominence is through a serious breakdown of communication networks on Cybertron. If those networks functioned well, all Megatron's secret schemes would be uncovered and dismantled. All his Decepticons would be neutralised, one way or another. The question is, who is responsible for the communication breakdowns? [Insert Led Zeppelin joke here.]
