Combiner wars VS Titans Return - which line of toys do you like better overall and why?

 

This is a really tough question because I like them both. But I guess I would have to vote for Combiner Wars. It felt pretty good to finally get some official combiners that were mostly decent and they didn't break the bank like 3P combiners would have. Also besides the combining feature, each individual figure also made good stand alone figures with good articulation and not just a crummy figure with the sole purpose of combining in mind (talking about you FoC Bruticus...imo anyway   )

That said though, I'm happy CW is over now so we can get a break from all the combiner style figures and get a bit more variety with TR.  

 

Titans Return easily. Was glad when combiner wars was over.

 

Titans Return is better. I'm interested in more of the figures in this line than I in Combiner Wars.

 

Titans Return. I only really bought stuff from the first two waves in Combiner Wars. Definitely sticking around for 3 in TR

 

Unite Warriors over both of them. If I had to order online because local stores were too stupid to carry products at all, I decided to order the correct teams with better decos. Cannot wait for Titan Wars to be over so Takara can go back to making regular Legends again.

 

Love both of them, but Titans Return wins because CW engineering causes more compromises.
TR/Takara Legends is more intricate with more unique sculptings.

And Takara Legends Titans Returns > Unite Warriors CW

 

Combiner Wars was great when I was getting the Aerialbots and the Protectobots but got old really quickly beyond that, mainly due to the excessive recolours. Don't see that being such a big problem with Titan's Return.

 

Titans Return are AWESOME!!!

 

Despite how much fun I am having with both lines and I really love both lines, I sadly have to pick one so I'll go Titans Return.

While Combiner Wars was fun, I just like the quality and the removable Titan Masters of Titans Return more.

 

While I like them both, CW suffered from an undeniable "sameyness" due to the nature of having the combiner peg, so many similar transformations (they really could have stood to have made a car-hood-foot style mold for Wheeljack and Lightspeed to mix things up a tad), the largely unnecessary 84/85 repaints (I get why they did them, but I wasn't interested and they shelfwarmed terribly around me + even doing the large scale seekers reinforced the feel of a lack of variety.

Titans return wins for more interesting transformations, wider and more obscure character choices and a fun gimmick. Now if they'd just be less stingy with the paint!

 

Combiner wars was awesome up until we started seeing the insane amounts of retools and repaints. I still prefer it over Titans returns though. Big robots uniting together into a bigger robot will always be more appealing to me than some dude sitting in their heads. heh

 

I bought zero combiners. I've bought nearly all Headmasters.

So...

 

Combiner Wars, despite the repaints and making non-combiner figures into combiners. People could finally get combiners at a cheaper price. TR giving EVERY figure a headmaster is silly. It's actually an easy out to putting more effort into figures. Hell, the guns are even cheap. Don't get me wrong, the original headmasters crew is good except Skullcruncher. He is a floppy mess.

 

I like both of them, but I feel like CW went a little bit crazy in terms of retools. (or the lack thereof in terms of some head designs like Blast Off or some of the Technobots. Thank you UW!) TR may have a lot of retools too, but figures like Highbrow and Chromedome at least manage to be different enough that you wouldn't notice without some close inspection.

Though both lines have the problem of pushing aside older combiners/headmasters aside for the sake of making remakes of other characters who the gimmick is not suited for.

 

Combiner wars definitely I've switched to mp ,3p,ko and sold off and good deal of my collection but kept a good bit of cw and only two tr

 

combiner wars gets my vote. don't get me wrong, it was a very hard choice, but so far i'm having more fun with the combiner bits.

 

Titans Returns wins for bringing back my favorite gimmick.

I chose Combiner Wars because I love combiners. I really enjoy the Titans Return stuff too. But it was combiners that got me back into collecting so I have to choose CW.
