And when Hasbro gets droves of this one item shipped back as 'defective', it's encouragement for them not to make running changes in the future and to leave imperfections as they are.

I got the Nonnef ratchets for my Optimus and Motormaster and they work great. I'm hoping that Grand Scourge won't need them.

Wait, so when would these improved Motormasters have shown up? I grabbed him at Target a couple weeks ago but haven't taken him out of the box.

There hasn't been anything concrete on it, except that UW Motormaster has them. That being said, someone who has UW Motormaster tried Nonnef's hips in it too, and they still prefer Nonnef's hips over UW.

So apparently the improvement is marginal at best.

Lastly, there's no way to determine which Motormaster apparently has the change, judging from outside the box. So you may end up with an original MM straggler.

    Just go with Nonnef.

I wonder if Hasbro will offer to buy back the defective ones?
I wonder if Hasbro will send out fixed ones to those who can prove they bought a defective one with a receipt?
I wonder if you can send in your old defective one and Hasbro will send you a fixed one?

    No? I didn't think so.
Lemme just buy a toy twice to fix your mistake.

Well said. We shouldn't promote shitty behavior. Nonnef saved the day with those targets, and we should support him instead of acting like douches.

Oh for FRAKs sake. RETURN IT AS DEFECTIVE, BECAUSE IT IS.

You're not screwing anyone over, you're returning a defective product for a working one of THE SAME ITEM. Its not toy swapping, and its not screwing anyone over. Hasbro knows there are some of this figure out there that don't stand up right so they fixed the issue.

Its not any different than if the OP had saved his receipt and box and just returned it within the 90 day window, or as soon as he realized it was defective. I was just running under the assumption that he's likely already tossed his receipt and box.

How are hip ratchets defective? Last time I checked, there were an alternative. That was Nonnef's Hip Ratchets. Heck, I already recommended him use Nonnef's Hip Ratchets to solve his problem!

You're promoting someone swap a toy with a "defective one", which is a bad thing. Read the TFWiki page on toy swapping closely.

    Truth!

I plan to add the nonnef hip ratchets to CW OP, even if I don't display him in combined mode.

Toy-swapping is a douchebag move. NEVER advocate for it.

I think I'll order the Nonnef ratchets. Now all I need is a way to secure Offroad and Dead End/Brake-Neck's lower leg connections for arm mode.

So if I bought a blu ray player that didn't play certain movies or didn't work with my TV, and I box it up, take it back to the store with the receipt, explained it was defective and exchanged it for another of the same model that works fine...

Would that be blu ray player swapping?

    This thread reeks of entitlement.

I want to add, that just because Motormaster's stance is not ideal, that makes him defective? A lot of things on CW Devastator are not ideal, does that make him defective too? Classics Megatron has a stance similar to Motormaster, is he defective too? Why did everyone not return Motormaster the moment they got him if he was defective? He's not defective, just less than ideal.

And as far as the toy swapping goes, why not tell the whole truth and see if the store sees it as an okay practice. "I bought a toy months back knowing it had this problem before I ever got it. I played with it, photographed it, built Menasor with it. Then I found out that Hasbro made a running change and added more cogs to the ratchet in his hips, so I bought the new one and now I am returning the old one here in with the new package. So technically I am not returning the one that this receipt is for."

Seems I was incorrect on the method of determining the Motormaster differences, however Nonnef's hips are apparently still better by a wide margin.

EDIT: Apparently because the new editions have the cog wheel positioned better? Just do it yourself then.

As for the topic goes though, honestly my bigger beef with Motormaster is the way it disconnects from the arms/shoulders in combined mode. Again, another problem solved by Nonnef.

No, but why would an exact replacement work unless it was truly defective? Motormaster isn't defective. The new version is just "enhanced". If you boxed up the blu ray player after using it to exchange it for the same model that now has a Netflix button on the remote, yes, it would be swapping. Now that store, who did nothing wrong, is stuck with marking down a perfectly good player that they can no longer sell as "new" because someone just HAD to have the Netflix button.
