    this is true.

at least takara knows that we'll shell out real money for quality figures.. some of us even over pay for them. so two faced.

Same sources who said that we will NEVER get a Casette player Soundwave, NEVER get a VW Bumblebee, nor combiners?

We're playing this game again folks?

In regards to Metroplex's success I agree, I think that he must have sold relatively well if not we would not be hearing about a titan class Devestator.

As for Hasbro being a bit late with the combiners, I am going to have to disagree friend. By Hasbro flooding the market with combiners they have just made many 3rd party offerings less relevant (3rd party Superions, Defensors, Menasaurs, and Devestators). Yes Hercules and Uranus have been out for a while, but retailers like bigbadtoystore will likely now have to think twice about sitting on $20,000 worth of Hercules and Uranuses figures.

Hey, go right ahead and doubt. I really couldn't care less if you believe it or not. It will be proven in the future anyway.

But even if you don't believe me, it's still logical that this huge Devastator's retail performance will heavily influence Hasbro's (and the retailers' themselves) decision on if they want combiners to keep coming or not.

You just answered your own question.

    No?

Ah I see the issue came from getting retailers to stock it, thank you for the clarification.

Pics are not going to come this early, and this is the Combiner Wars speculation thread. So knowing that... why are you even here then?

Cause I can. Probably bored. Smoking a cig at moment too.

    Speculation'/prediction's one thing.

But to say I have a source is another. Your putting your credibility on the table if you do.

Um... yeah... that's coz Costco made a deal with Hasbro as part of their black friday/holiday special... it started, and ended, at $79... did I mention it sold out within a week? Oh yeah... it sold out within A WEEK.

Works for me. I'm not a combiners fan myself, and personally prefer the Constructicons individually, but Devastator WAS the most awesome thing when I was 8... NONE of my friends were talking about Dinobots anymore... we all were talking about Devastator, when that episode aired the first time.

Dinobot is a fine mold if you ask me, it just needs a major upscale

Point still stands: how much money was made off of that $79 price point? Again, it sold well, sold in a week ... but at what cost to the retailers? Hasbro?

Didn't that sale start around the time of his release though? Even if it didn't, he wasn't out long enough to shelf warm and cause the store to discount him just to get rid of him, I'm guessing it was a planned sale.

Or maybe I'm just misremembering it.

where i live i found several tags on shelves for metroplex but never actually saw it stocked. i eventually got one on sale off hts though so if retail doesnt work out like with metroplex i tihnk it should still be relatively easy to get off hts.

according to that guy hasbro and costco made a deal to price metroplex at $79 which probably means costco paid a part of the retail price so it could have cheap metroplexes to attract more black friday/christmas shoppers who would also maybe buy other toys but most importantly boost memberships and thus create new returning customers.

in the end, hasbro benefits from higher sales and costco gets more customers

I'm sure neither Costco nor hasbro went home hungry after that deal was made. I really REALLY doubt it costs hasbro more than $40 each to make titan class metroplex...

But yeah, sold out at Costco, 3 local TRU sold out several shipments at $129 a piece. Had one left after Xmas for clearance at $99...

So "the point" is, between the fandom and kids with gracious parents, these things sell out. They ALWAYS sell out. I remember seeing the USS Flagg, and thinking no one could afford that in a million years... I woke up Christmas morning, and there it was... Under the tree... Took Santa 3 hours to carefully assemble and meticulously place stickers on that thing....

It did. Costco got him a few days after he appeared on TRU shelves.
