Am I the only person that realizes that a space shuttle has military connections? Granted I'm a Geewunner at heart, but I have no issues with a shuttle being in a military group.

 

Anyone else notice that Swindle has a different handfootgun than Rook, despite the fact that he's a retool?

 

I'm a Classics collector. I nearly have everything Classics related since 2006.

Classics hasn't done what Combiner Wars has many, many times. I actually have most of the toys.

But, no, I don't mind these things.

Megatron as a tank, G2 Megatron in particular was my first ever Megatron. Yes, it isn't the gun alt mode but I have a soft spot for tanks. One, because I'm a big tank fanatic, and two because it was my first ever. I can accept a tank Megatron as it's something I grew up with. As far as Megs being a nerf gun...it's still a gun, right? I'm not THAT anal where I need 100% perfect G1 alt modes. That's what Masterpiece is for. But I do ask that the characters at least be either close to their original alt modes or updated versions of them.

Perceptor was a triple changer of sorts in the G1 toy line, so a tank is okay! Robot, microscope and tank. As such, I'm okay with it because...it was an alt mode that wasn't really prominent but it was there.

Scourge is okay because it's original thing was a cybertronian boat-bathtub thing. Considering Hasbro wanted to have him as some sort of modern alt mode...I'm okay with it. It invokes the look and feel of the G1 toy so I find it acceptable.

Classics is NOT replacing characters entirely and pretending they're the original characters. If you actually look at the Classics line from 2006 and on, you'll see that every one of those toys are modernized versions of the G1 alt modes.

 

If Takara aren't able to make Blast Off into a shuttle perhaps a strongly retooled CW Air Raid into a Stealth Bomber would suffice? I wouldn't mind seeing it honestly and while it still wouldn't be a shuttle,at least Blast Off wouldn't be just a jet repaint and that he'd have an alt mode that evokes closer to his original G1 alt mode.

 

Blast Off is going to be a shuttle when Takara makes him, no doubt. Yuki's design sketch had the comment where the challenge was to mix the original animation design and modern toy design into an acceptable toy.

 

I'm see where you're coming from and agree on most points.

I'm all for updated, however, there certain characteristics I require in order for me to purchase. I need Blurr to be a hover-type car so I didn't buy the Generations, etc.

 

Wow people are still butt hurt over Blast Off? Some people just don't move on.

 

To keep more problems about how the only Brawl alt mode picture is the correct one from popping up, the figure is mistransformed. The turret is supposed to be slid back, but the person who transformed it apparently never looked at any instructions and kept the turret extended forward.

 

Hopefully it stays that way so maybe Hasbro will be less eager to pull crap like this in the future.

Just wait for Takara Bruticus. If they were able to make a deluxe motorcycle Groove from scratch, a space shuttle Blast Off would be a walk in the park

 

Nope- I'm with you. I kept explaining how they do have military connections but have done it enough times now and still see people complaining about it that I figure people either get that or they don't.

When the Combaticons are one of your favorite groups of characters and Blast Off is one of your favorite Transformers, period, yeah... when I see Hasbro not even make any effort with his toy- not just the jet (which makes no no sense with the name "Blast Off") but worst of all, that atrocious head... yeah, I'm still unhappy about it. I look forward to Takara's version.

 

They're looking great. Can't wait to see what Takara does. Thoroughly enjoying the CW/UW figures.

 

Yeah, no rush here. Plus I'm lazy and kinda content with the FP/ROTF Bruticus for now.

I was. These are much more fun figures for me. They certainly look the part well enough for my collection too. I happily sold my set in favor of these.

 

 

Also- does anyone have more photos? I would be interested in seeing better photos of the figures and the packaging artwork for each one. That one photo you get a glimpse but not a very close one.

 

Is Takara also releasing the brown chest version? Because I really want to just paint the visible blue parts of Onslaught in torso mode silver for show accuracy, in addition to having space shuttle Blast Off. Skyblast (which is what I'm calling the plane) will go very nicely with my Galvatronus team.

 

Yup, I need the silver chest plate version.
