Wow, he looks GREAT combined. I'll be getting the Takara set for sure, and then I'll be done with UW. What a ride!

I am totally on board for some Combaticons. And I really don't mind Blast Off being a jet. It works for me.

And since I never bought the Aerialbots or Protectobots, all of them will be new to me.

You know, everyone's complaining about Blast Off being a straight Slingshot repaint...but really, the only problem I can see about it is the head not having a mouthplate. Other than that, it's a good CHUG Blast-Off, to me; at the very least, it looks somewhat like an updated Blast-Off, minus the faceplate. Maybe it can be a headcanon that he has the faceplate as a battlemask, similar to how Movie Prime does it.

It's not nearly as eyebrow-raising as, say, making Grimlock transform into a Mustang, at the very least. And honestly, a space shuttle never really made sense as part of a team comprised of it, a tank, an assault helicopter, a XR311 combat vehicle and an anti-aircraft truck to begin with.

Sure, military space operations and all, but all the other Combaticons are assault vehicles or generally useful in a war zone. Blast Off's alt mode is more suited to, say, a space-themed combiner than a combat unit-themed one. It'd be like if there was a speedboat member of a combiner team otherwise made up of battleships.

Well, I was going to get the Protectobots, but then I heard that Hot Spot was probably going to be retooled into Onslaught. And I'd much rather have Combaticons. So... yeah.

Smitty.1981's right. If you've only handled Menasor, you have NO idea how superior Superion is (pun indented). The Silverbolt torso is the tightest and most well executed of all CW. You are missing out. But whatever....

    Read the bio.

Blast Off being a space-worthy military specialist makes a LOT of sense for the Combaticons, considering that the Decepticons are a space-faring race, and that Vortex already effectively handles air superiority due to his special powers.

Remember... Blast Off is effectively a tactical communications officer and an orbital sniper. The error is in assuming that he's simply his team's "flyer".

    Bingo.
Edit: I think that's something a lot of people seem to miss. It seems like many people only think of the Combaticons waging battles on Earth or Cybertron- but there's a whole galaxy out there and with a space alt on their team they have the ground, the sky, and the galaxy covered. (And I've always figured Blast Off is also the transport for the team as they travel from planet to planet- he was shown transporting his team-mates in one episode.)

I really think CW is a line where you need to go big of go home. I'm not saying be a completist but you really should get the G1 teams at the least.

And as far as Menasor goes, your only options are the CW version...and the FP version, which isn't really G1-accurate, but the Motormaster wannabe is generally agreed to be fiddly and a pain to transform.

Personally I don't hate the CW Stunticons, I can see why some would be disappointed with the combined mode, but I'll take that over a figure people seem to agree was one of the weakest 3P combiners.

    Personality-wise, yes. But thematically, no.

Like the G1 episode where Blast Off alone goes into space to capture that lizard guy.His abilities were shown off pretty well there.

Also, unlike Astrotrain, Blast Off didn't have to resign himself to the fate of "glorified troop transport". Maybe that's part of why he got so pissed in Triple Takeover...

How is tactical communications and orbital sniping not thematic with combat troops? Unless you think combat is ONLY infantry throwing themselves at enemy infantry and combat support like sniping and artillery and many other things don't exist.

blast off should be a shuttle for many reasons, orbital sniping and combat, transport, comm hacking, also, he needs the flamethrower arm ability for bruticus that a jet can't measure up to. but i guess it'll get lonely in space, thus this wiki stub wouldn't make sense

"In the Wings of Honor continuity the Combaticons are swayed to the Decepticon side by Deathsaurus appealing to their darker natures, represented by one of the Seven Deadly Sins. As noted above, Blast Off is convinced by the offer of a Triple Changer upgrade so he'd be, y'know, useful. His vice is thus Envy."

Strictly speaking of the FoC version, he was still a "space shuttle" (of sorts), but that a shuttle fits the "Combat"icon motif? It does, as does a fighter jet. It seems questionable the action Hasbro took all in order to reuse a mold (which I am not totally fond of), however, had hasbro chosen a different fighter jet mold, it wouldn't have been that bad (still will have preferred the shuttle though, hehe)

Supposedly WB is working on the Stunticons and swore there was another company too. Agreed that FP's Motormaster is a pita to work with. But fiddly? I have yet to experience it.

I want to like CW Motormaster and Menasor, I really do. But after having him in hand, I couldn't help but feel very disappointed, especially after handling CW Aerialbots/Superion. I know Has/Tak could have done better with the Motormaster.

Psst, we dun talk about the milkman ... leave 'em outta dis :p  hehe

I can actually see Blast Off being a jet working for his character if he is also still capable of reaching and travelling space. Like, if he can reach orbit under his own power but others can't, why shouldn't he feel above those stranded to the skies and ground? He has a similar alt mode to some of them but he can still do more than them, therefore he sees himself as superior.
