I wonder if Hasbro will eventually rerelease the combined teams in premium giftsets, kind of like how they repackaged foc Bruticus in a set with grimlock, in more accurate colors. Conveniently after fans had paid a lot for the sdcc set, and after buying the fruity colors.

And how they made a gift set of aoe autobots with more accurate colors, conveniently after fans had already bought the individual figure releases with minimal paint apps.

I wasn't around when G1 toys/show were around so I might be out of the loop, but are the CW figs missing critical paint apps? A quick Google search seems to say no, so I guess you are wanting a takara paint job analogue available for Brick&Mortar statside purchase?

While having to wait for stuff to show up in stores or online stinks, these figures are too much fun to let that minor hassle stop me from enjoying them!

This!!! Buyers determine what to get for major retailers and they look in their stock and see old stock of TF from the movie and are not motivated to order more

Well, these are more or less "Accurate Colors" with tons of paint, which is your main gripe about those two sets, right?

Well since IDW is using the color scheme of the Combiner Wars toys, I don't know what a "more accurate colors" is supposed to be in this situation. And if it's cartoon accurate you really want, well it seems like Takara's got you covered at a price that matches what any Platinum Hasbro set would cost.

TRU has a web store. And given their deluxe price buying 2 will net you free shipping.

I take it that your Menasor is er, floppy mess? At first I was abit disappointed with mine but I did some of the fixes in the feedback thread and I'm satisfied with him.

Oh man...thanks for reminding me...I hope Hasbro doesn't do that!

Yeah, I'm picking up the TakaraTomy set solely because of the more accurate homage!

I'm got the Hasbro version for my kids to mess around and they dig both Superion and Menasor. The Missus was also quite impressed by them - the combining aspect.

I honestly can't recall when I was so excited by TF toys...I can't wait for Defensor and Bruticus. I'm so close to ending my CHUG collection! :)

I agree. I am patient for everyone else, except this Megatron that apparently everyone else has except me. Megatron is the only figure that has appeared in stores but is still unavailable anywhere online. "Just use HTS". Gee, that'd be SWELL except he sold out extremely fast and never showed up since.

And this was a figure people were bashing on because of the arms. What's this going to be like for Ultra Magnus? I can't see it getting any better. How can I order Megatron online if he is nowhere available online save eBay scalpers charging $100?

I have to agree as well. I'd completely stopped except for MPs and a few select figures(read: arcee). Not at all a fan of the recent designs that aren't generations inspired and the smaller sizes put me way off.
That said I've got the three teams announced on order and will let em ship if I can't find in store before.

I also find that a lot of the online stores, while pricing are more then we've paid in the past is pretty in line.
    TRU deluxes are all $16.
BBTS are $18 So you're paying an additional $2. That's less then you'd pay in taxes and gas to go "hunting."
Amaon deluxes are $19, $3 more, again taxes and gas and if you're already a prime member you get free 2 day shipping, that's way more then $1
I Pre-order a LOT of stuff on BBTS simply for the fact if you're able to find it in store it's really easy to cancel.

It's not convenience so much as a catch-22. Premium giftsets come from popularity and sellouts of the initial offering. If fans don't buy the first release then we are left at the mercy of the general population to make it popular enough to get a retailer interested in a premium giftset.

And rare is the collector who is patient, far-seeing, risk-taking and cheap enough to pass on the first wave from Hasbro AND Takara banking on the fact that something will be popular enough to generate a cheaper-then-Takara-offering. It just doesn't happen.

Does anybody remember when Amazon was actually a fun place to buy from? The fact that they are charging more then even BBTS is insane.

I actually posted those fixes on there and I cannot say I am satisfied. I wrote on there as well. I literally tapped the table he was on, and down he went.

So I said, screw this garbage, I took off Superions limbs and threw them back on Superion. Posed Superion in less the 1 minute, and he is standing there nice and secure. I even hit superion by mistake today and he didn't fall over.

With Menasor, he still slips ratchets, he is not weighted properly, so it takes forever to pose him and for his pose to hold. Between the lack of an ankle tilt on menasor and the way the hips work, it's a nightmare.

Granted in regular Bot and Alt mode, he is a great figure. It's the torso mode that is a failure.

Not so much Amazon (which is usually the cheapest seller with Prime), as stores selling through Amazon which I find to be extremely annoying. If I'm not buying direct from Amazon I usually won't complete the purchase

I missed the hunt, the build of anticipation. I remember finally finding Gen Armada Starscream in a store, and then Gen Armada Megatron almost a year later, just stood there trying to relise I had finally found them after weeks of hunting. Thats something I don't get from online shopping.
