Okay, something really urkes me here. I was watching the other day Starscreams Brigade. I noticed that when Starscream had gathered his troops, and lined them up, we see the five Combaticons. Swindle, Vortex, Onslaught, and well, can't think of the other two. Anyway, at first we see Vortex as a damaged Japanese Zero fighter plane. Then when Starscream activates them, they transform into better condition vehicles and all of a sudden Vortex goes from fighter plan to helicopter then robot? What? He's not a triple changer, so he never goes back to fighter plane mode. So my question is, how in the world can Vortex go from fighter plane to helicopter? Any thoughts? Just seems to me he should've stayed a fighter plane or started off as a helicopter or something. Would've been cool if they used the Hughey Cobra as that would've been right for the time.
I think they're working the rotor connection there Anyway the molds pre dated the Transformers line, so they had to find a way to shoe horn the helicopter in there with the rest of the WW2 upgraded stuff (helicopters not being used in WW2)
Ah the magic of G1 animation eras. I'm surprized this bugs you more than the numerous times Starscream is standing beside Megatron, they cut away, go back and Thundercracker is beside Megs, cutaway go back, Starscream again. Biggest thing to remember is that g1 has TONS of animation errors. I've played a drinking game taking shots for every animation error. Twas a night me and my buddy and our girlfriends at the time got REALLY drunk.
Yea I know it's full of animation errors. But this looked like it was done on purpose. I think one of the best animation errors was when Megatron was at his video-conference and had Sideswipe at his side. Then all of a sudden Sideswipe disappears. Again, it looked to me like it was done on purpose. Also, remember the beginning when Starscream finds the broken wing of same airplane?
Vortex changing from a Zero to a helicopter bugs you, but Onslaught changing from a half track truck troop carrier to a "gun truck" or Blast-Off changing from a flying fortress type plane into a space shuttle doesn't? Swindle is the only Combatacon who doesn't alter fhis form from the one Starscream implanted him in. Brawl just changes from one kind of tank to another kind of tank.
Yeah I still go with animation error. There was an episode where the Cons were standing there Megs is talking, with Thundercracker beside him, they cut to Prime, then come back to the Con group, and Shockwave is standing beside Megs. On Earth. How do you mix up the seeker with Shockwave? Then when they cut back, the seeker was standing there again. Like Shockwave75 said, other than Swindle, they all changed a little bit. Heck you even decided to call them the Comabiticons
How about this for an explanation: In an off-screen technology trade with Cobra, the Decepticons aquired the plans for the Matter Transmuter. And what we don't see is that after implantation while Starscream is off-screen he is using the Transmuter on the Combatacons to alter their alt/modes into something more useful to him. Works for me!
I didn't even noticed that till you pointed it out! LOL! Silly me! Must of been an animation error. Oh, and I didn't even noticed the other Combaticons changes. Only noticed Vortex's. Maybe perhaps the changed alt-modes was closer to what they were on Cybertron and that's why they changed? Just a thought.
Its not an animation error. Starscream just used existing vehicles to become modern vehicles. That doesn't make them a triple changer but it is slightly less believable than how Megatron created the Stunticons perhaps.
Actually helicopters were used very minimally in World War II by the Germans , never in a combat role though, as they would have been torn apart by ground fire rather quickly.
They were also used by the US for medical evac during the final year of the Pacific campaign in Burma and the Phillipines.
yes they were but only rarely as at the time their range wasn't that good and couple that with being unable to have anything resembling armor plate due to weight issues. Korea was the first war to see wide spread use of helicopters for medical evac. it wasn't until Vietnam that they went into combat on official missions.
the one thing i cannot figure out...at the end of the 2nd combaticon episode...the revenge of bruticus , Megatron supposedly reprograms bruticus to only obey him...but you never ever see any change in the stupidity of bruticus or any behavior changes in the 5 seperate components either...
