Ok, so we know Will Farrell is in ( and seems to be @$$-raping) the remake of Land of the Lost. I realized the other day that in the movie "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", there was a character named "Wildlife Marshall Willenholly", played by Will Farrell. Anybody think it maybe more than a coincedence? Or is Kevin Smith a LOTL fan also?

Bit of a stretch? It's stretching from Japan to New York.

Not a stretch actually, Smith named him from the first line of the tv theme song...Marshall, Will, and Holly. Ultimately, more coincidence that WF would end up playing Rick Marshall IMO.

On a side note, I have to laugh at all the butthurt fans of such a cheesy 70s program. I grew up on it too, but seriously, it's some horrible shit to watch as an adult now.

Given the fact that it was a kids show in the mid-70s, with all the practical limitations that would bring, it was a decent show (or about as good as it could have been).

My one regret with the current LotL film (which I've yet to see) is that they just choose to lampoon it. The original series had some very good (if not well realized) ideas behind it, and could have been used to launch a wild and inventive adventure series.

I have yet to see it either, but I much rather they lampoon the original characters than stick with the concept of a father and his two kids. I'll take the film's current characters running around in the LOTL world any day of the week over watching two bratty kids and whoever would play the dad do the same. Ultimately, when it comes to DVD, I have a feeling that the movie will get very popular.

And I agree about it being about as good as it could be for the time, but today, it is horrible and cringe-worthy to watch.

Everything in this post is correct. Ferrell's character's name in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is an homage to the Land Of The Lost tv show's main characters' names. As a little kid, I was a big fan of the show. Come on, it had dinosaurs!! Sci Fi has been showing the reruns a lot lately and the show is utterly unwatchable. And from what I hear, so is the movie.

Gotta say I actually liked the movie. Why? Cause Will Ferrel didn't bust a nut trying to be funny. I felt natural in this movie, such as when he did Elf. Both roles seemed to really fit well for Will, however I will say that the other main actor (guy from tropic thunder dont remember name) was a little over the top with his antics. Otherwise I thought the movie was good, although the cringeworthy scene of where they first met Chaka and he was all up on Holly could have been altered. That seemed a little too close for comfort.

I give the movie a B. Not the best, but also not the worst. Also it was a fun retelling of the original story, the icing on the cake was Will singing the original theme with the banjo.
