I honestly don't care if they're offended. People are gonna feel how they feel. I just laugh at how their offense is justified but other's offense over a different word is not.

I feel like "kidult" is going to become a part of my lexicon whether I wanted it to or not.

Like, I'M TAKING THIS WORD BACK!

Ah yes, the good old "I, the adult who spends hours per day posting on a forum for children's toys, am so much more mature then the rest of you" approach.

Yeah I love kidult, it's the stupidest term. Definitely sounds like something that Thew Adams or Emgo would come up with.

"We don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing" :rock :buttrock

    I'm an official Kidult™ now.

Give them more credit than that.

It sounds more like a term you throw out as a joke during a planning meeting and then instantly regret because everyone else runs with it.

I'm fine with the word "Kidult" and the word "Slag".

I’ve always hated this response because in arguements it’s typically used as a meme-y of admitting to one’s own confirmation bias.
    9BFFF071-2F3C-4653-B82F-54E83C33B554.jpeg
It just comes off as “I’m going to ignore you because I don’t like what you are saying”.

    Now your just generalizing people.

You know some people don’t like the word kidult, but also don’t argue when others complain about how some are offended at the word Slag.

@Moderators can we lock this thread please? There are too many "serious mature adults" who collect children's toys thay had their feelings hurt by the word "kidult".

Seriously WTF. If you're somewhere between a kid and adult, which all of us here ARE, because we collect children's toys, then own that shit. Embrace it. Lean into it.

    You'll feel better about yourself.

Right, and those weren't the people I've been talking about and mocking.

Yeah at this point I've heard it all. Not to mention thanks to stuff like Disney and the MCU "nerd culture" is pretty much the norm.

The last time I got genuinely offended was because the person was in my house, looking at the collection, and making fun of the idea that I'd collect them.

The cool people are the ones who think it's goofy but still appreciate that everyone has their thing.

Then perhaps you could make a distinction in the future?

That is one thing I will agree with you on. We all need a little self-awareness and the ability to look at ourselves and laugh. But people have different standards for that sort of thing and some are much more dissmissive then others, and some want to push that onto others which just results in some people trying to call other people things they are not.

It's not my fault you didn't bother to read the thread before jumping down my throat.
Not the first time you've made a stink about "generalization" in response to someone who specifically took steps *not* to generalize.

Unless I'm mistaken, those white shelves are IKEA Billys. I use them for my collection, too. They've got a cutout at the base so they can wrap around floor trim and sit flush against the wall.

It's great. Especially if you don't have the money for DETOLF.

    Kidulthood (2006) - IMDb

"Kidulthood" - a film from 2006 about teenagers stuck in West London gang culture.

Must have a different meaning internationally o_O
