I was thinking about sourcing some other hands. I was wondering if I could just find some articulated hands and just mod them on. How big are quakeblast’s hands relatively? Like what other hands would be that size so they still work for transformation?

Yeah. It’s a shame. That’s the nature of expensive redecos. In fact I don’t even like the decos. I just want an action master one.

Okay. So there are some good hands for prime. Can anyone else check the size of the hands and find some fairly accurate comparisons?

 

No idea; I'm still not sure about buying Quakeblast.   I'd say MP Soundwave hands (I think Keith made some) would probably be the closest fit. Colour-wise, the MP Shockwave hands or maybe even Keith's MP Skywarp hands. For Prime's hands, Eness is best (and you should be able to get them in black).

This may sound really indecisive of me (though I am indecisive), but I feel like none of the three Shockwaves are quite right. I like that the official one has most everything integrated into the transformation, I like his light-up gimmick in alt mode a lot (don't care too much about the robot mode lights), and I like his accessories, but his hips suck, his feet suck, the lack of paint sucks (I'm not one for lots of paint but there are barely any paint apps so, you know), his alt mode looks messy with all the gaps and visible screw holes, and the gun trigger is badly designed. So in that sense, Quakewave and Quakeblast get a lot of things right that the official gets wrong but also vice-versa is true. Hmmmm...

 

Very torn between buying a Quakeblast or settling for SIEGE Shockwave. I don't collect MPs normally but I just really enjoy how Quakeblast looks...

 

Well, if size matters to you, Siege Shockwave is about half Quakeblast's height and costs at least the same (or more, depending on which country you live in). He's also arguably made from lesser-quality plastic than Quakeblast.

What I'm saying is that you should buy Quakeblast.  

 

I've got a spare shockblast hand. if I can find it I'll try to get a comparison of it with some other hands. It seems like it was pretty big though

Well apparently "I" lost my solid colored hand that it took forever for me to find for sale and I doubt if I'll ever find another one. Great.

Awesome recap of Marvel’s Shockwave’s curriculum! but don’t forget he also gave the Dinobots some real hard time in the Savage Land. Quakeblast really captured that Shockwave for me, so he was a must in my collection.

I remember discovering cartoon Shockwave long after the Marvel Comics version, and I was surprised/disappointed that he was such a ‘lapdog’ as you so well defined him

YESSSS I FOUND IT! My wife had put it in my g1 box which of course I had not checked because you know. .it doesn't go there. Anyway. Here are some comparisons. Against prime, mp shockwave and mp Soundwave hands.

 

Here's something interesting. Putting the solid hand on a newer release of the figure...there's a tab on the flap that opens to hide the hand. On the clear hand that came off, there's a slot. On the solid hand, there isn't one. Anybody with a 1st or 2nd release can confirm if the arm flap has a tab?

 

Awesome! That’s a big hand! Pun not intended. Now I need to find a hand in relative and figure out how to make it swapable.

 

The mushroom is on the hand itself and most of the others have the mushroom on the arm. Good luck.

Of note...under lights the purple hand is not the same color as the bot. I'm glad because I thought they'd be the same .
