    General question for everyone:

In my head I seem to recall Cliffjumper and Jazz being associated somehow. Scanning the wiki, it appears they’re often featured together across most of the media.

    Anyone know why that is?

They survived TFTM together and like everything else from that movie, later creators thought "hey wouldn't it be so clever if we just kept doing that over and over?"

From the original 86 movie they were both station together on one of the moon Bases

Most people remember that pretty well
I’m not sure what you mean by then being features together throughout most of the media

They are both G1 characters, Stands to reason any of the G1 inspired iterations are going to feature these two characters together at some point or another, likewise your likely to see the names Wheeljack Ironhide Sideswips In just about all of those iterations as well.

I know that they were both stationed together in TFTM, but I also think that they were paired up in Starscream's Brigade? I mainly associate them with each other because of Fall of Cybertron.

    Pretty much this.

They spent all of TFTM hanging together, which also ended up getting carried over to places like their tag team mission in FOC.

    Survivors stick together.

Or it's because of "Starscream's Brigade", when they both got captured by Starscream and the Combaticons and they were constantly referred to as a pair:
    • Number of times that somebody says "Jazz and Cliffjumper": 7

They're not really related beyond three instances

In the Starscream's brigade episode they were captured by Starscream,

In Transformers the movie they were together when Unicron ate them up,

In Fall of Cybertron, Jazz and Cliffjumper were made a buddy-combo

Aside from the third instance, I think it was more or less just coincidence that they were together in those two instances beforehand. Fall of Cybertron's developers just decided to make it a thing, but it never came up again after that.

If I also recall they intended to keep Jazz and Cliffjumper around like Bumblebee which is why they survived the movie. But the voice actor for Jazz Scatman Crothers died just after the movie, which is why Jazz is seen in Five Faces of Death Racing in Blurrs place at the space olympics thing and never seen again.

In my opinion, I really don't think that what happened with either Jazz or Cliffjumper's voice actors had any affect on how much they appeared after the movie. Neither had a toy in 1986, so I just don't see any reason for either character to be featured extensively.

From what I gather they were to be supporting characters at best, due to both Crothers and Casim being known names in the series while having jazz and Cliffjumper being familiar characters for people to recognize. I remember reading this somewhere back in the nineties.

But who knows could have been made up this was in the 90's internet.

Jazz did have one more Appearance

Aside from that, if you look at all the available evidence it doesn’t look like the actors Death had much to do with his not being used as he was still alive and working while some season 3 was in production and there’s no evidence I’ve seen of script re-writes dude do the death of the actor

Casey quit the show for personal reasons

There's alot of moments in the G1 cartoon where minor scenes or friendships actually stuck with the characters decades later. Inferno and Red Alert's friendship is a notable example.
Especially in the Masterpiece series where characters have play features that were probably seen 1 or 2 times in the show. Or things like Prowl's missile launchers, which was just a Bluestreak animation error.

Grapple and Hoist were also friends from what I remember. I guess both being more artsy creators then warriors. As for Jazz and CJ I can't say I've ever given it much thought they just had a few moments of being in the same place at the same time.

Ironic that they both survived the original animated movie, when either one of them gets killed off in the first live-action movies of each continuity.

Jazz got ripped in two by Megatron, while Cliffjumper got sliced in two by Shatter and Dropkick.

Heh, maybe aside from both of them dying in their first live-action debuts, maybe we should also add the manner of death to which they're associated by.

I think it's simple. Casey Kasem hosted American Top 40, while Jazz played number 1 on the bottom 40!

Dinobot Island, part 2, when Jazz tells the time-travelling outlaws, "How about number one on the bottom 40?"
