Just wanted to let u guys know I had success using a black marker to touch up areas that weren’t convenient for black paint. Added update and pics to orig post.
Dang, the changes you've shown so far already make a world of difference. It looks so much better than the original figure.
Yea, I know there were others than me who have been waiting years for this figure and to see Hasbro shortchange the deco on their mold was unfortunate. I’m not an expert but I wanted to give enough details in my post so people have a guide on how to make Apeface look good. I’d love to see others attempts. One last note..I added an Acrylic clear coat to protect the paint. It raised the look of the finish. I think I forgot to mention I used Tamiya lacquer spray on his toes(had some laying around). That stuff it’s tough, otherwise try a black marker on the friction part of the toes and paint the rest.
Great he looks so much better! Were there a ton of painted areas that were subjected to tabbing (hence rubbing off the paint?)
You know what, I'm not bothered by the pearlescent color, but you painting it that lighter grey is damn nice.
Yes, but not many. Mainly the ape back/cockpit area but I will say black marker should work if the friction isn’t too intense. I used marker on his calf tab. Yea the light gray really began to pop when I added the gloss. It looks very similar to the color Hasbro used on the cockpit. Master Model light gray..saved me from having to mix my own.
