I guess I'm not a "geewunner," because as much as I like most of the G1 set of characters, I hated how the original seekers had no ability to store their hands in their alt modes, and hated the Ironhide/Ratchet forms with the redundant sleds. (Rodimus, too. At least Optimus Prime didn't have to get around with his trailer.)

Partsforming is kind of a general term. I don't mind whatever clever fumbling is done so long as we get convincing robot into convincing alt mode. I'm not a fan of faux parts, panel-forming, but I appreciate when it works to get end results.

Partsforming to me is an excellent solution to the hollowness of the figures. If I were to fix the engineering on the Siege Ironhide, rather than a shield, I'd have the roof split into sections which could fit over the hollow parts of the figure, inside arms, back of legs. It's half-baked as it is.

I don't mind this, but might just skip because I'm over my TF budget. I have earthrise Ironhide though, and love him. Still need to upgrade the feet and wheels. As for a SS86 version, he should come with a blasted out chest window.

As for the parts forming chatter, Earthrise didn't bother me because at least it looks like a shield. I loved when RID started using car parts to make the weapons, and feel this goes along those lines.

ER's was also just re-creating the original toy's gimmick without the budget to see it through. I'm pretty sure an SS86 would do the same thing, but with a fully realized sled.

Still an awful looking mold but I'll take it since I love Diaclone homages. It's still funny to me that this is happening yet Masterpiece has skipped this for years.
Wait is SG Magnus really gonna be done using the Kingdam tooling? Really hope that isn't the case especially with G2 Optimus existing now.

I doubt they will but I seriously hope that fix that gawdawful foot ass end of the vehicle mode issue. That killed what would otherwise be a stellar vehicle mode.

Even MP-44 has a faux chest! But who cares? If the figure looks good, who cares? At least Ironhide/Ratchet have a cool and convincing use in robot mode.

Geewunn purists will be the death of us.

They've had a retooled skull head for Ultra Magnus since like Siege, I figured it was only a matter of time before they used it.

This is a cool figure. The color blend and placement seems too much like a black Rocklord from Gobots to me though.

His red face would look better silver or yellow or gold.

    #partsformingisLYFE haha…

If they are finally going to do a Diaclone Ironhide, I wish they would just hold off for the new Ironhide mold (assuming it isn’t going to be a flaming POS). The Siege mold, as much as I like it, just isn’t appropriate, IMO. Give us a nice Geewunny Diaclone Ironhide and call it good. The ER was closer…but not quite there yet.

You mean like they did with Deep Cover and Kingdom Red Alert?

Most people do the normal thing and call it what it's meant to be. Most people aren't out here cringily making up names.

They're not going to use the old mold in a new price point in any way for a line like Studio Series. It'll 100% be a new mold, and the stupid battle sled thing will be completely ignored. It might even be similar to how Tigatron improved on almost everything Cheetor did with a larger budget.

I love the red and black decor, but that picture doesn't show the whole figure, so I’ll place my desire to buy it in a holding pattern until we can better look instead of some grainy photos.
