I know that I’m asking if this is an updated Encore or Protect Black Ironhide or a new character? If its a new character I'll get it. If its not I'll pass.
Well, it's extremely disappointing that the rumored voyager Ironhide we've been hearing about is almost certainly a re-release and sprucing up of the Earthrise mold based off of this, since I doubt they'd make a new mold for a character and re-release a recolor of the older version at the same time (although I'm hopeful I'm wrong. Maybe this is the old mold to keep people who buy a new Ratchet and Ironhide from naturally going, "Why buy 3 of the same toy in a different color?"). And of course the-leaker-who-won't-be-named left their """""unique""""" watermark on it, but let's be honest, that sort of behavior should be flat-out expected out of them at this point, if it wasn't already. But for what is is and what can be seen, it's okay. I'm not a big fan of the red face, but I imagine the Deeseus Guard figure would be roughly the same shade, so you could likely swap the two heads if this deco isn't to your taste.
Fair enough, although the fact that this has precedence and someone to look towards when a picture with that imagery appears on the internet should be enough of a condemnation of the person who's being named in the picture.
Good job cleaning up. I expected more trolls like that to surface eventually. More Diaclone repaints are always welcome, but that red hinge on the front is unsightly.
That's good. I really don't want my Ironhide and Ratchet to be the ER versions, because man you need half a dozen upgrades to make them decent, and even then the shield is pretty much a dealbreaker in my eyes. I'm fine with it for this figure since it's not a show character, he can do all the weird tricks for transformation he wants, but I'd like the '84 and '85 cast to not use that degree of partsforming.
