I've got a Yellow one, but I think its a Lunch-time special more than anything else. It still looks pretty cool with the Red one.

I'll be going to BotCon this year, so if anyone's interested I could bring a couple with me and do a trade or 2 on them.

I signed up to answer this (including the nauseating captcha, about time since I've been lurking for over a year).
The problem is that the link on the main article still has a personal identifier embedded in it. Everyone originating from this site is adding and removing items from the same basket, presumably up until the point of checkout. Deleting the cookies and following the same link takes you back to the same basket. Someone should probably mail the administrator since it's a bit of a silly implementation.

Simply change it to the following:
    http://www.chevrolet-store.com/chevrolet/product.asp?dept_id=70&pf_id=DE_GMC8000

For kicks I also added a couple of extra items to the basket. Hopefully people will realise before they checkout...

I assume he was writing in ALL CAPS and the board's anti-shouting filter turned them into capitalized words.

It's a nice figure, but the shipping costs. Damn.

And I thought getting toys from Japan was bad? This makes that seem like a drop in the bucket.

I'm waiting got websites to order $100 of them, and I'll just get it straight from them... The cost would go down the more you buy... so it is probably a safe bet BBTS or Captured Prey or somebody else is buying in bulk.

I was just thinking about this again, and think this is a second batch of the figures.

The original ones (including my yellow one) came wrapped in tissue/crepe paper inside the bag.

Just recently I've seen a few for sale that are in the plastic bags, but aren't wrapped in the paper.

I suppose we'll know for sure when they start turning up.

Hmm, the figure looks nice! I've been debating about getting one, even for the $100 or so that it was going for on eBay. I'm just not sure about the shipping and others fees...If a website bought a bunch and should them for $60-70, for simplicity's sake, I may have to cave and buy one!

I jumped the gun and order him before even doing a currency exchange rate. It wasn't until AFTER I placed my order that I realized that I paid nearly $75 USD for him! Total order came out to be 47.80 euros (12.80 for the toy + 35.00 doc fee/int'l shipping).

Oh well, it's done...one less toy to worry about tracking down later. Then again I'll hate my impulsive self if the US branch of Chevrolet starts selling him!

I'm pretty sure the Documentation fee is a seperate fee from the shipping fee. So you're going to be paying more than $75, unfortunately.

I've been selling them since October and mine did not come wrapped in tissue paper. They just came in a two-piece protective plastic shell (like the plastic inserts inside carded toys, but with a part for both the top and bottom) inside the bag.

We'll see if it actually does get restocked. There were about 500 or 600 of these to start with on the site, and it's supposed to be a small-run toy...

Did they raise the price or something???

    Here is my confirmation...

    Aveo Transformer Toy
    £ 8.60 £ 8.60 2 £ 17.20
    Documentation Fee - International Shipping £ 25.00 1 £ 25.00

    Subtotal: £ 42.20
    Shipping: £ 0.00*
    Tax: £ 0.00+
    Total: £ 42.20

I really wish I had read this thread before putting in my order. I had no idea about all this extra fees crap. I saw the news it was up and didn't want to miss out like I did with so many other past exclusives, plus I had to hurry cuz I was getting ready to leave for work.

I'll find a way to recover though.

I was able to cancel my order fine. You shouldn't have a problem. I bought some from the Europe store at first, but it's actually cheaper to buy from the Africa store. The price is in USD, so no currency conversion charge from your credit card, and the cost of the figure is a couple bucks less.

After seeing how insane the costs were I requested that my order be cancelled. Here's the response I got. Man am I glad this is over.

    Dear richard,

Please note that we are based in France, this explains the EU doc fee and the high shipping costs.
No problem, we'll cancel your order.

    Best regards,

    Thibaut
