So, this is a WIP and finished thread all in one!

I modded and painted Ravage yesterday in between some commissions, and figured taking pics along the way would be cool. This will be a pic heavy thread.

I start out by sawing off Ravage's front legs at the joint:

I'll be using the ball and socket sections of Hobby Base's Medium Roll Swing Joints As you can see the socket is just slightly too big to fit into the already existing space.

Ravage's shoulders are trimmed so that the socket fits in. Then just cut off the extra pegs and glue it in.

A hole is drilled into the body, and then the ball joint is glued on to complete the shoulder.

To articulate the foot, I'm using the bracket parts from Hobby Base's Small Roll Swing Joints. The foot is cut from the leg, and the part of the lower leg is cut out to allow for the new joint. 2mm rod is used for the joints. This allows the foot swing front and back and tilt left and right. I use the same method for all 4 feet.

For the thigh joints, I've enlarged the holes from where the original joints were, just big enough for a ball joint to fit it.

Coincidentally, the small Roll Swing socket is the EXACT right size to fit into the neck joint, the pegs are even a perfect fit for the pin hole.

To fit the socket in, I cut two small grooves into the joint housing, and push the socket in. It fits very securely and will not come back out.

I'm using a second small Roll Swing socket in the head. I've hollowed out the head to make room for it, and drilled holes for the pegs.

I also added a joint to allow the mouth to open and close, and added a knee swivel in the rear legs...but neglected to take pics of either.

Ravage was painted with Semi-Gloss Black and silver.

And now for the finished pics:

That Soundave's fan-fricking-tastic! I just had to bump his original thread to state how much I love this.

Hm... think you can add small tabs on the top of his car mode to allow Ravage to peg on top? Ya know, kinda like how Hound has them.

Regardless... the articulation mod is GREAT. *thumbs up*

Where did you get the ball joints from? I would love to get them for my ravage and other customs. BTW, Your work is great, I love what you've done with ravage, Hasbro should have at least included a shoulder swivel in his design.

For the most part, yeah he does still transform. The front feet(the little black toe sections) don't align perfectly since they're a little longer now, and he's about 1mm thicker as a cassette thanks to the ball joints in the rear thighs.

Unfortunately, I'm totally booked on commissions for quite a while right now.

I ordered them from HLJ here:
Roll Swing Joint Small and here:
    Roll Swing Joint Medium

And yeah, while Ravage's sculpt was great, his articulation was pretty much non-existent. Shoulder and foot swivels would have added SO much, but I guess that would not have been cost-effective for an "accessory"
